Hi Guys! I'm new to this board and will be having the DS surgery in about 30 days! I'm revising from a slipped LapBand. I would like y'all to tell me some things about life with DS that a Dr might now discuss. For instance, I know about the vitamins I must take and protein requirements, but I didn't know that it can cause really smelly bowl movements/gas until I read it somewhere from a DS'er. Thanks for your help!! I'm just trying to prepare myself the best that I can! Much Love❤️❤️😘

I had a crap band once upon a time too. I'm currently 3 months shy of 2 years with my DS.
It's the best decision I ever made.
Most docs do not know how we need to eat. Even the DS surgeons.
I must plan my mornings accordingly because I usually need to go to the bathroom twice. I can't really hold off a bm like I could before surgery. When it's ready it's coming now ! Good thing is once I go twice I'm typically done for the day.

Lol @ crap band!!! 😆😆😆 Question- if you swallow a large pill or pieces of food that are big, do you throw it up like with the LapBand? I always had an issue with medications getting "stuck". Then came the painful vomiting trying to get it "unstuck". I'm just trying to get a handle on how that works with DS. Thanks!!

When you are a new postop, your system will be super sensitive, and that can last a long time. But longterm, the DS does not result in that "stuck" experience.
Please, please do more research. It seems to me that you do not yet know enough about the DS and life with a DS.
Please list here all the vitamins you plan to take and the diet you plan to follow after your DS.

Bring this up with your team! Please, please list the vitamins you think you are going to need.
