So Dr. Greenbaum was just in and said I was doing good and could go home today on full liquids! Kinda happy, kinda nervous. I miss my husband and son but my son is 5 and I'm nervous about his jumping around. But home is always better than a hospital

Yay :-)
My son is 3 and 4 days from surgery we went to the park and I wasn't paying attention. He was a dinosaur chaser and his lasers were his two fist and I got both of them in the stomach full speed.

OK, strap your kid down somewhere...that's a joke! Just watch him/her and take it easy. Tell him mommy is not feeling well - you know what to say.
Glad you are going home and I do agree home is much better than the hospital.
Welcome to the dark side.

He's pretty good at listening and understanding that I have a boo boo in my belly, I told him on the phone no jumping around mommy for a little while. I think he'll be good. I'm hoping your son never did that again!

If it is not already, have your husband child proof your home. You will not be able to jump up and race into another room if you hear something crash or if he is too quiet. Maybe buy him some new DVDs you can watch together or a new toy he can play with quietly at your feet. Do you have a babysitter or a friend with children who can take him for a few hours each day for some active play? Congrats on going home. It IS always better to be home.

My husband is home with us until next Thursday and I'm hoping by then I'm a lot better. He's been home taking care of him the week I've been here and he'll be home another 5 days to take care of both of us. He works 3 nights a week but it's 15 hour days by the time he drives and stuff so basically I'm on my own for 3 days. Hopefully someone will help me if I need it. My husband is amazing and goes out of his way to help me. My son knows well just see how it goes. Main thing now is my intestines are acting up and I've gotten the runs and an hour and a half ride home so I'm nervous

This is what it was for me the first couple of weeks. Then when I started iron and things got back to normal. Goodkel's ideas are great - keep your son occupied and get some rest. You will see some things change in time. Remember to make the appointment for your drains at 2 weeks - no before. I made the 2 hour drive down there and was sent home. Stupid office made the appointment too early. Good luck in your recovery.

He said he won't take them out before 2 weeks and have had to send people home to come back. Thankfully he told me cause his office sure wouldn't. I asked Tina on Tues for a note for my husbands job and have yet to have her answer me. But my appt is Sept 3 so that's 16 days and all should be good. My sons being great and it's GREAT to be home! How are you feeling?

How are you feeling? If your husband needs that note soon, I suggest that you write it yourself exactly as he needs, upload it to an email, and ask Dr. Greenbaum to sign it, scan it and email it back to you. You should also mention how long you have been waiting for this important note. Include something like this: "I am sorry to trouble you, but this note is important to my husband's job security. I requested it from Tina on Tuesday 8/19 and have neither received nor heard anything back from her yet. I understand that you have a busy practice so I took the liberty to write the note that my husband requires and have attached a copy to this email. Please sign it, scan it, and email it back to me."

Lisa: I am good. Just finished freshmen orientation and now I can focus back on me. Lots of new things at work and will be a very challenging year.

Here I am again. I'm here to remind you that liquids are the most important thing you can do for yourself at this point. Remember to drink, walk and REST! Sometimes the pain meds make us high...I know they made me feel pretty good. So don't forget you are healing and you need to drink, and rest...walk when you can but remember not to pick up your child for however long the doc said. It used to be six weeks, but I think that may have changed to four.
PLEASE take care of you. This is your time now and I know you don't want to end up sick from the surgery. Just take care of yourself.

Well thanks to the good old docs I wasn't getting my estrogen pill for the week, which I needed cause I have endometriosis and had 2 Lupron shots so far. I started getting bad cramping cause now of course I'm bleeding and have my period. It is wonderful to have to go through this and have this drain hanging between your legs at the same time while you're trying to clean yourself which is hard enough to bend forward when your entire front is slit open. I know TMI I'm just frustrated. I also have the runs since yesterday afternoon. I tried 2 teaspoons of the broth they give you and 1 teaspoon of jello and after that my intestines went crazy. Woke up at 8am, did some walking around, straightening up (mom thing lol) made myself broth with egg whites and put 30g of liquid protein in my water bottle. Took my time, about 45 min and had a half a cup of broth which only equals 2.25 grams of protein and am now working on my 24oz bottle of water/protein. So I'll probably end the day with 32.25 grams of protein and hopefully another 24 oz of water for a total of 48 oz of water. That's my goal for today anyway. Took a shower and cleaned all my drains. My drain really burns a lot hoping it calms down. Trying not to let it just hang or fall is challenging. It seems really red and irritated so I'm trying to be extra cautious. Having a little reflux from the soup so my hubbies going out to get me some nexium. I'm kinda surprised to doc didn't send me home with any. My RYN surgery I had to take a pill everyday for 3 years. Going to take a nap now and rest. I think I'm doing pretty good other than the few "bothersome" things that I'm complaining about lol

Wow Lisa, you are doing amazingly well. I was happy to stay in hospital until my drains were removed. Do you have a binder? It helped me to pin the drain to the binder. It also kept the pipe in position.
Most folks are on a PPI post surgery. I used OTC omeprozol. Take it in the morning before any food.
Also remember, many people believe that the protein of a shake starts losing its integrity within an hour or so. I guess bacteria really love the liquid protein. I have noticed that the texture definitely changes after a while. I mixed small doses of protein at a time.
Is there a reason why you were off your estrogen?
Keep sipping. That is your greatest priority right now.

That is your greatest priority right now. They didn't give me any of my regular medications in the hospital all week! I finally realized it, cause my head was spinning from the morphine, when I started bleeding. I asked them and they were like, ah no. So then I has to have an OB consult and finally given my medication. It's starting to stop now. I got nexium, had way to much heartburn yesterday and I only ended up finishing 28oz. Of water but got the 30 g of protein. I can't wait till these drains and feeding tube are out! They are painful and bothersome Thanks Lisa

You seem to be doing very well.
You will definitely feel better when those drains come out. What a relief that was.
The PPI should kick in soon and you'll feel so much better without the heartburn. Be sure to take it every day. It works by reducing the amount of acid your stomach creates so it is not an immediate fix. If you wait until you have heartburn to take it, you are too late for fast relief. Sorry if you already knew that. I am just covering the bases.
Things are just going to keep getting better for you.

Take it one day at a time, I feel for you with the drain. When I took a shower - I slipped a thin belt through the drain bulb . This way the drain didn't hang. A couple of times, I forgot where the drain was and pulled on it. Oh - it was red and sore for days....Recovery sucks. There is not other way to describe it, but it does get better.
Keep up the protein and fluids and get plenty of rest.
