Hello friends. I'm having a very rough day. I started opti again yesterday and yesterday was okay today not so much. I've done a lot of therapy to deal with emotional eating and head hunger. I thought I had them under control. Today scares the crap out of me that they are not under control. I feel if I can't do this opti and be successful how can I be successful after surgery. I cheated tonight and had half of my son's leftover hotdog. Feeling hopeless :-(.

Lighten up on yourself. Everybody makes mistakes and I'm sure you will once you have had your DS...the DS is a very forgiving surgery. I know you ate half a hot dog, so be it. Now get back on the opti fast and keep going. You will be fine.
I'm glad you are getting the head hunger treated. But for goodness sakes, don't be so hard on yourself. You are going to make mistakes, everybody does. If they tell you they don't then they aren't telling you the truth. That's human nature.
Cyber hugs, just remember to use the opti fast one day at a time. Sometimes I'm sure it is one minute at a time. Chew gum do anything you can to relieve the chewing craving. Eat SF popcicyles and SF jello, can you do those? Just try to stay focused and keep busy.
When is your surgery? I hope it isn't too long from now.

Do not beat yourself up! Just pick up where you left off. Go get your nails down, see a movie, take a walk somewhere beautiful, meditate and do something for yourself to get you through this time. Good luck.

Dawn,
It's a very tough time, I think harder food wise than after. I didn't do very good on my liquid diet prior to surgery, yet I'm doing really good now. Just hang in there, do your best, and you'll be okay!

Remember, too, that things are going to be very different after your surgery. Your tastes will change, what you can tolerate is always in a state of flux, your feelings toward food and your feelings toward yourself! So how about just dealing with just today?
You are going to be fine. Keep your eye on the prize, my friend.

Hi Dawn. The presurgery diet can't really be compared to after your DS is done. Drinking liquids only preop is very difficult. I felt ready to kill watching my family eat regular food. But postop was different. I would not measure your future success on preop. You can do this and you will be a success. Just wait and see.
