As I am getting ready for my RNY to DS revision, what are the best bathroom sprays? I would like to purchase something that I can throw in my purse for work or have at home.
With the RNY - I know the foods that will trigger dumping and wreak havoc on my GI tract. So I avoid them. With the DS surgery - I imagine food is the culprit and I need to "relearn" what foods I need to avoid (carbs/sugar) etc.
So what do you guys choose as the best spray?

Hi, if you do a search on this site for bathroom sprays, dealing with odor, etc....you'll get lots of info. There have been many posts and discussions about this. Also, if you post general questions like this in broader parts of the board, you might get more responses than you will in the revisions section.

After doing my research on various DS forums, I picked up Ozium. This stuff does eliminate odors like no other air freshener, but doesn't leave any sort of sweet smell, just neutral. Before that, I had used Pure Citrus, which also came well recommended on the forums. The Pure Citrus left a powerful orange smell in the bathroom, which my DW was not a fan of. I ordered both of these through Amazon.

Besides Ozium which is great there's also Just A Drop which will fit into your purse easily. It really works you put a drop or two into the toilet before you poop...it also helps after but not as effective.
Happy Pooping!

You can make home made poopoori which is super cheap and works fantastically. Google for the instructions.

My complaint with Ozium (not the new car scent, but Ozium in general) is that if I accidentally inhale any of the still-floating particles of it, it makes me hack and cough something awful. That can't be good. To the OP: if you google "odor eliminator", there are products that are more bio-friendly (if that's even a real term). It's more of an enzyme thing chewing up the stinky air bits, rather than a chemical covering it up. I use both, so not trying to slam anything, but I breathe easier with a less artificial product. My two cents.

You can also make your own "poo pourri" toilet bowl drops. I can't remember if there was a thread on this forum or if it was on Bariatricfacts.org but there was a whole thread with recipes and everything.

I am going to get the Ozium. I do not have the time in my life right now to make my own. Thank you for the suggestions. I saw that Walmart offered the new car scent. I like the idea of carrying it in my purse. I am hoping that my GI tract will be on schedule with the BM like in the morning before I leave work. MY RNY system doesn't like the high fat/high sugar foods so I avoid them at all cost because dumping syndrome is horrible!
I imagine that same might be for the DS when it is done. I will be ordering this sometime in July.
Thank you.

Cindy Well, you might find that your RNY/DS system are different, it's pretty hard to predict and you'll only know by trial and error, once you get past the first 8-12 weeks which is essentially about healing and much else. Carbs as general rule of thumb - complex or simple - definitely seem to be the common factor for most DSers, which ones exactly will be unique to you. I found I'm not semi-lactose intolerant anymore, can eat ice cream (which I prefer when I do have it, full fat, sometimes sugar free). As for bathroom sprays, no shortage of info around, a favorite topic! There's actually a product called poopourri which you can find online, and, I think Pioneer Woman has one on her website (I love Ree Drummond!) I also found a nifty alternative, the perfumed body spray of the old school woman scent, Wind Song! You can get it in any drugstore and the stuff works like a charm, and same, skinny fit in the purse, workout bag. Really doesn't just cover the odor, but gets rid of it, amazing and it's less than $4!

FWIW, I think Ozium is vile. But give it a try.
