Hi Jessie71, I am an RNY to DS revision, great news, spring will have sprung for you Welcome and keep us posted, we're here to support you every step of the way. And it's helpful if you do a signature with your stats, it helps you get the best answers possible for your needs. Especially what type of revision you are looking at and who your surgeon is. We worry because revisions are much more complicated and having a well documented vetted surgeon is imporant. And for an avatar, you can post a photo, use the nifty avatar feature here, or pick an image that's something you like but not necessarily a photo of you. Looking forward to hearing more about you and rooting you on!

Hello!
This is my first day here - I've been searching for somebody who is doing a revision from lapband to DS.
How has the process been for you, this second time around? Does it compare to the process pre-lapband?
I'm in the very beginning phase, with just an appt for my first visit with the surgeon (not the same one who did the lapband).
How long was your process from the first appt until you had approval, and from approval until a tentative date?
I guess, basically, what info can you share w/ me, as I have a lapband and am wanting the DS.
Thank you!

Hi Round2 and welcome! There are several of us "revisionistas" here, RNY to DS, lapband to DS. Start a thread on this board too and tell us more about and ask all the questions you need. Also page back on the revison and DS board and look for posts. We're glad to have you with us!

well to be honest with you, its all very much the same... 6 monthe dietition, had an upper Endoscopy and GI nothing has been summitted to insurance as of now as far as approval goes, i called ins they gave me the prerequisits and im chipping away at my check list because "nothing is wrong with the band" according to INS. its like starting fresh!!! so my surgeon is removing the band and doing the revision as one laproscopic proceedure!! the Hospital is who set the tenative date so i could get on my surgeons schedule its all pending insurance, which had no issue with approving the band, which in my opinion shouldnt even be offered!! but live and learn i guess!!!

Thank you! I fought my insurance for a year to get my revision from lapband to DS approved. They denied so I was self pay. Every insurance policy is different - so it's good to find out what your plan requires. Once I figured out how I would self pay, it took me about a month to get all the pre tests done that the surgeon wanted and then I had surgery (jan 14, 2014). My surgery was quite long - 10 hours .... There was much more scar tissue around the band than expected and that removal took 4 hours. Then they had to repair a hernia and do the DS .... So it really was a much more complex surgery than just having the band. So the recovery has been more difficult that I 1st thought it would be. Good luck getting everything in place for your revision!!
