I had a revision from RNY to DS with Dr Keshishian in March of 2012.
I have not had the "typical" DS success losing weight. I went for a consultation with Dr Roslin in November and I found him to be very personable and attentive but he stated (similarly to Dr Keshishian) that we have to balance the nutritional issues against weight loss since I have struggled with vitamin and iron malabsorption.
I was overwhelmed with changes at work and eldercare issues and decided to take a step back until after the holidays. Things are settling down and I am back in the game searching for answers. Please wish me luck.

I've been thinking about you and wondering how you've been. I'm right there with you in searching for answers as well! I'm hoping for nothing but the best for you, MsVee!

Dearest Vee, my heart goes out to you, because you have been a pillar of strength throughout this process. I know how hurtful it has to be. None of us went into this expecting to be 'skinny', but after what we've gone through with our RNYs, there is a reasonable expectation for a better result, the metabolic reset that eluded us with the gastric bypass, 'level the playing field' and I'm so sorry it hasn't happened for you...yet. You've handled it with amazing grace and I mean that. Please keep us posted, and let us know how we can help. I got your back girl.

MsVee I'm so happy to have met you in person and know you are one smart cookie, and a very nice one at that, too.
I hope you find your answers. I did read a study earlier this week that discussed how African Americans have a more difficult time losing weight, even after WLS. I sincerely doubt you are doing anything different than others, and I hope you can find the right options for you. Was Dr Roslin willing to entertain a sorter CC revision or resleeve? I know the nutritional consequences you already have are a balance but maybe a more aggressive supplementation plan could work?

Thrilled to hear you are back on the hunt Vee. Please keep in touch! You and I had our revisions at the same time and are dealing with what sounds like some similar outcomes so far. You are, however, further along in the quest for answers outside yourself.
You are in my thoughts and I'm envisioning a healthy, lighter (?!), bright future for you.
I don't believe I can PM here but would love to compare notes so if you still have my number or can PM me on this board, and would like a support/notes-comparing buddy, please please do.

I am of the firm belief that the DS is definitely not a one-size-fits-all surgery. I really hope you get the answers you need to complete your journey as intended. Thanks for sharing. We're here for ya!

I've had three yes, three WLS. I was doing so well after the last surgery I actually thought I would make it to goal. Then I got colitis..I've actually gained 20 lbs and am still fighting to get it off. My heart goes out to you..oh yes, I need to lose more than 20 lbs that's for sure. Just wanted you to know you are not alone.
Let me know what the doc says and how you are doing.

I so hope you both gain some insight and knowledge sharing notes. Certainly not the outcome I imagined when we first met in Dr. K's waiting room, MsCello I believe that PM function issue has been fixed, but hey, MsVee also shared on a forum you're involved with, I believe you moderate, so you've got two ways to stay connected! And Vee has double the support, which you deserve and then some. Here's to solutions for healthier, lighter both of you.

Vee, I have to say you look beautiful in your picture and look slim. I hope your weight loss picks up and that you get to where you want to be.
Obviously you don't have to share if you aren't comfortable, but have you lost any weight or inches since surgery?
and I really feel for you on the Eldercare issue. My Mom passed 3 years ago from lung cancer and her last five years were miserable. Unfortunately we went through a very rough patch financially in 2007 after a failed business and were living in a small house where we only had 3 bedrooms and the two were too small for the boys to share one, not to mention we had stairs that my mom couldn't traverse.....so we couldn't have her move in with us, so she ended up in a nursing home a great deal of her last year. I have always felt guilty over that and we didn't get to her place to see her enough because she smoked like a chimney and my wife and I are both allergic to smoke(get terrible head aches and sinuses go nuts). She was on oxygen the last 15 years of her life but still took it off so she could smoke...Thank goodness I never liked cigarettes because those death sticks are very addicting, of this I know.
anyway, best of luck to you and I hope Dr Roslin can help you and that your elder care issues are as good as they can be.

Vee, I did see you post over on BariatricFacts as well so we have two ways to keep in touch. Vee, I'll reach out to you in PM both places. Anything we can do to get to a better finish line with these revisions would be a WIN WIN WIN!
