New to the board, lots of great info on here. Was wanting to reach out and see if anybody in the south has had this revision surgery and if so, which docs did you see. I had my RNY iin 2004, did great, no problems. SW 320, LW 155, CW 240. Had a little surpise in 2009 and since her birth have totally spun out of control with the weight gain. I have tried to talk to my surgeon and he offers no solution. Im really interested in the DS. Does anyone know of any surgeons in the Atlanta area or Birmingham??

Welcome, and congratulations on your little surprise!
There are very few surgeons who do RNY to Ds revisions. It's a very complex and challenging surgery. First, everything that was done to create your gastric bypass has to be completely undone and the stomach reconstructed to where it started. Then, the entire Ds has to be created, taking care to preserve the blood supply to the part of the stomach that will become the sleeve. You will need to travel, so may as well accept this now. There is no one in the South presently doing this surgery (virgin Ds in Atlanta yes, RNY to DS, no). The closest to you is probably Dr. Roslin in NYC or Dr. Greenbaum in NJ. Dr. Greenbaum is reportedly more selective and turns down some people based on how the original surgery was done. Other resources include Dr. Rabkin in San Francisco, Dr. Keshishian in Glendale, CA (near Los Angeles), and I think Dr. Simper in Utah. You can find contact info for them at dsfacts.com.

I'm in the Northwest, but I've had RNY to DS revision. As Larra pointed out, the surgeons doing this are pretty few and far between. You will have to travel, but it's honestly worth it

Hi Wendy. I was also a lightweight and ended up traveling out of state for this particular revision.
There are more RNY to DS revisions on this site than any I have ever found and the best information is also here. Great job finding it.
Welcome!

Welcome to the boards Wendy!
I had an extremely complex Band-Over-RNY to DS emergency revision which was performed with zero complications by Dr. Ara Keshishian in Glendale, CA. I have only heard of a few vetted surgeons that do this type of revision. You are in a great place for information.
Any questions, just ask!
