Anyone went from RNY to Sleeve I'm nervous and not finding to much help I have to make a decision by next Thursday if I just want the reverse or reverse than sleeve. WOW Im really nervous. I well be 8 hours from home so want to make right decision. I just want the dumping and reactive hypo and weight loss to stop. Im almost 7 yrs out from RNY. Thanks Guys

I responded about this on your other thread, but just in case I will copy/paste it here: Wow, that's promising! I mean, if he says he can revise you to a sleeve and has extensive experience and comfort level doing such, you might really want to consider it. You could very well enjoy having a sleeve for the purpose of weight maintenance (since you have none to lose right now) without all of the ill side effects you are currently experiencing with your RNY. Also, in the event that you *do* gain weight in the future (hopefully/probably not but I'm just trying to give you the big picture here), it would be easier to add the intestinal part of the DS to your sleeve. Again, nobody *wants* to plan for a potential future revision (think twice, cut once kind of deal), but since you aren't getting the full DS now, at least you are in a better position later on should the weight gain occur. Glad you are making progress!

Hi, phew, it's been a haul for you for sure. I guess technically speaking, my RNY revision to DS is a 'reversal'. Because before Dr. can do the DS, he has to completely undo my RNY. You would have same, but then just get the sleeve, not the full DS with malabsorption. However our issues are very different, you are having so many problems with your RNY are done losing; my biggest problem with the RNY was just that, didn't lose, stayed obese back up to 240 lbs. My impression is it seems like your surgeon is thinking like what Lisa said, the sleeve would keep you in weight management/maintenance...has he explained that to you in detail, as the better option than a full DS so you won't lose any more weight since you're already at a goal weight? If your RNY is reversed and you have no other surgery tool in place, the likelihood of regaining? Has he done a lot of RNY reversals? I'm thinking that's what would determine the decision. I don't know if there's another situation exactly like yours out there, when it comes to the revision process, so many different issues we each experience. But we're here for you, hopefully others here who have more physiological knowledge can add something to the discussion.

I re-read your post. Are you losing too much weight? If so my answer may not apply to you. It is, nonetheless, my experience with the sleeve.
As far as the Sleeve, I was very disappointed with my result. Not that the sleeve doesn't work, but for some, the DS is necessary to maintain weight loss. If you are going from a malabsorptive procedure to mere restriction, I am wondering what the value is. I could only trust the reSleeve and the DS, based on statistics and my last three years of struggling, to lose and maintain weight loss. I worked hard and did everything right. It is just that the Sleeve is only "assured" to do the first stage. For those like me, the DS is a necessary part of the full procedure. Good luck to you...

Thank you both Im not sure how many reversals he has done. But I know he has been doing bariatric surgery for around 40 years and has over 8000 patients so Im thinking I cant be the first. I will see him again on the 24th for preop appt and plan to make sure I ask that although I know he felt confident in doing the reverse and he does sleeves all the time. He works with elderly and high risk patients so Im just wondering if its more of a risk to have the sleeve on top of the reverse I just want to get rid of the problems I have now. Ugh I just don't know so much on my mind now.
