Ok I know I read it someplace but Ill be darned if I can find it, so Ill ask. I am approved for a RnY to DS and they have me scheduled for 11/6. What are some of the things you found most useful while in the hospital or that you wished you had? What about at home...my better half will be working a lot after I get home so I'm mostly on my own. What made your time recovering easier? Oh one last question...I'm supposed to be on chewable vitamins after surgery, is there such a thing as an iron chewable that doesn't taste like a tire rim? Geez they make me sick just thinking about it. Thanks for your help, Cin

Lip balm, ear plugs, eye mask, small battery powered fan.
Nope, I don't know of any palatable chewables. So wait on the ones that gag you until you're healed enough to take pills and tablets.

Just got out of the hospital, where my endless stay was made INFINITELY easier by a good fan (the hospital does something like turning the A/C way up at night, and it was unbearably stuffy, to my taste; the fan worked wonders). Also, once I was on clears, having somebody bring me really good chicken soup -- instead of that gross powdered stuff that the hospital offered -- was a great thing.

You won't need half of the stuff you think you will need. I didn't ever wear a regular gown...so forget that...I didn't even wear a robe...I just put on a hospital gown backwards. Take toothpaste and brush...the ones they give you are lame. If you want to you can take lotion, but I never used it. Find a long handled spoon or thongs to put paper on for wiping in the bathroom...you will need that. What EN said and really a fan is so nice...I had two in Minnesota...in February...they kept the hospital so damn hot.
