I am so excited that I have gotten one so soon. August 2ND. I had consults with my old surgeon RNY 2007(Dr. Barker) two weeks in a row and believe it or not he did not even know who I was from a surgeon/patient stand point. He did not even remember seeing and talking with me for an hour and a half the week before. Unbelievable. I won't go into details on here, but I truly feel that it is a blessing that I had the second consult. It sure did open my eyes. All I will say is be diligent. Educate yourself. On to better things, I have been approved, BCBS of TX, had all the testing within the last 60 days and I just hope that it can all transfer over to Dr. Stewart's office. Last but not least..A BIG THANK YOU TO 'ragamuffin(sp)' and Kimberly Grimes. Please everyone keep me in your prayers that all goes well and the insurance company doesn't freak out on me. Thanks again to all Melissa V

Thanks again to all Melissa V Hi Melissa, and welcome! I'm Sharyl, I'm a RNY to DS revision too, had mine December 15, 2011. I'm so glad you got a second opinion, and one from the vetted surgeons list. This list is super short, our revision is the most complex. Pretty disappointing about your former surgeon, but you are on the road now to better things indeed. I don't think you'll have any trouble with your insurance approval transferring, but keeping positive thoughts for you. Please keep us posted, there are several of us revisionistas here, new and veterans, lots of info and support coming your way.

Thanks Sharyl for the support. I am now in the process of getting my records transferred and so far the old surgeons office is not cooperating. They are telling me it has to be reviewed by the surgeon before they can send it out, when he has time and this could be weeks. UGH!

I am so glad you switched surgeons!
I have never heard of Barker as a revision to DS surgeon.
Best wishes that everything goes smoothly from here on out!

Hi and welcome, I'm SO glad you made it here. Barker does not get any kudoes from me for ANYTHING, but especially not for RNY to DS revisions. You will be in good hands with Dr. Stewart. Please get real tight with ragamuffin and slimshady and their support group. That is where ALL the DS-appropriate information for anything other than cutting will come from. Do not expect to get anything other than excellent surgery related care from the surgical practice. (This is not a slam on Dr. Stewart; it is simply the facts of life for getting and living well with a DS.)

Welcome Melissa. There are quite a few of us revisionistas on this board. There are several DS veterans who will share their knowledge as well. I am so glad you have your consult with a reputable DS revision surgeon. I hear good things about Dr Stewart.

Big thanks to Goodkel, EN(love your avatar) as I own several Bengal cats and MsVee. I look forward to being with a great group. I have posted on the OH board for a while and it just seemed that it was being so negative always. I too am glad that I switched surgeons and have not looked back. I feel so fortunate that I had the second consult, it sure was a GOD send. I thought that Dr. B's office was going to give me a hard time about obtaining my records, but, after I sent them an email they repsponded this morning and said that it would not be a problem they would get them out this week to Dr. Stewart's office. I have so many questions, I am going to get them in line and start asking. You have been fore warned. . Anyway, thanks for the warm welcome and make it a great day! Meilssa

I am 1/2 way to my goal of a normal BMI, and 5 pounds away to being 199 ~ LOOKING so forward to saying goodbye to the 200's!!!!! WOOT!!!!!
We are a wealth of information over on the DS board as well.
