Well... that's it, final home stretch. One more week to go and next Friday I will be on my way to a thinner, fitter, hopefully happier and healthier me. I am no longer scared. Just a bit apprehensive and not really looking forward to the experience itself (surgery and recovery) but am really looking forward to the after. Except that suddenly I am feeling really stupid like all these months of reading and learning have been wiped out from my brain and I am asking myself silly questions like what will I be able to eat and when I should take the PPI and the gall bladder pills and all that... especially the eating.. I am suddenly worried that I won't be able to eat at all... WTH??!!!

It will seem that way at first. I remember drinking a whole ounce of water for my first intake and I was stuffed for an hour like Thanksgiving Day.
My second meal was 2 spoons of lemon ice. WOW!
Last night (2 years 2 months later) I had 2 Italian sausages, 1/2 cup baked beans, 1/2 potatoes, a few small pieces of melon and 32 ounces of liquids during the evening.
It all gets better, the volume incraeses as the tummy stretches. Follow the plan laid out by your dr. Hydrate all day long, protein first. Don't push too fast to get into solid foods, liquids and pureed foods, and soft foods seem like they will never end but they are there for a reason. Your tummy won't be ready for solids for a while.
You will still be able to eat, just not much for a little while.

The diet progression really helps with wrapping your head around the eating part.. no worries, you will eat! If you are like me, my sleeve hasn't griped about a single thing I've put into it.. but I have not tried a couple things like rice or pasta.. It feels exactly as it did pre-op, save for the fact I can actually feel full or satisfied on a small amount of food. Go figure, best thing ever! As for the PPI, take it on an empty stomach 20-30mins mins before your morning meal for best effectiveness... the actigall, I just took with the rest of my vites whenever.

What you thinking is normal and might really be strong after surgery and early in your recovery. You will be able to eat but you will be amazed at how full you are off a few bites , my first meal home was 3 baby spoons of apple sauce and i could not eat any more , then later like 3 bites of yogurt and i was stuffed it amazed me .. 5 weeks out i can eat little more but i still am amazed at how full small amounts are .. just make sure you hydrate and have protein first.. And when in doubt hop on here everyone here was my god sends when i was feeling regret and was not sure what i was i was doing....
