I ran into a lady yesterday who knew me pre-op. She gave me a great big smile and said, "Wow, you're really keeping that weight off. That's so wonderful." This morning a co-worker said to me, "You're losing weight, aren't you?" That really re-energized me. I'm going to get these last pounds off. I will eat mindfully today, take my supplements, drink plenty of water and get my butt moving, even if it's just a short walk.

Doesn't it feel great when other people notice? You're motivated and I know you can do it!

Doesn't it feel great when other people notice? Yes, it does! This hasn't happened since very early in my WLS journey.

Soblessed, you can do it...you know its much easier to fix now than it will be later so heres to staying motivated! I know you can do it!
As a morbidly obese person, did you ever see someone about 20-30lbs overweight or who had recently gained that 30lbs and thought to yourself that you wish you could shake some sense into them and say "get on top of it now before you become like me...its not too late!!!"
Just curious....I know we each have to live our own lives but I cant help wishing I could just grab someone and encourage them to take the bull by the horns sooner rather than later sometimes. I guess this is why I never did well at 12-step type meetings! lol

Jeez, when I would see a person that was 20 to 30 lbs heavier I was jealous and wished that was all I had to lose. To me a person with only 20 or 30 lbs to lose isn't obese at all, just normal like most people in the world. I longed to be normal. I still don't think anything of it.

It feels great when others notice and acknowledge our success. Sometimes that is all we need to light a spark to keep us going.

I guess this is why I never did well at 12-step type meetings! lol You know, last spring I met a very nice young guy who happened to be a little bit pudgy. When I saw him later in the summer, he had picked up a good bit of weight - borderline obese. I wanted to reach out to him, but then I thought about how I would have reacted to an unsolicited comment about my weight. Also, at the time, I was at my highest re-gain weight of 166, so who the heck was I to say anything to anybody until I got my own act together. In a way, he unknowingly inspired me to start getting serious about getting my own weight back down.
