hi! I'm new here. I researched the VSG and decided to have my VSG in MX with Dr Ponce De Leon on 4/5/11. I have insurance but no comorbids besides my osteoarhtritis in my knees. My cholesterol is raised but im not taking on meds for it. I dont want to have to take 6-12 mo of jumping thru hoops, evaluations, fighting with insurance yada, yada, yada. Thats why i am seeking medical tourism. My BMI is 37, and I need to lose ~56lbs. I am very śhort. Below 5 ft. I'm so glad to have found this site and I look forward to getting to know you all and not going thru this WL journey alone, Im only telling my husband.

Welcome to the board!!! I have knee arthritis and hip too, 5' 2". It took 2 months to arrange my insurance and book my surgery date. It helped to have a few co-morbidities. I called my surgeons billing office for the insurance codes, then called my insurance co for the details of my surgery insurance acceptance, then brought it all to my surgeon. There are many here who have had surgery outside of the US. I'm sure they will be talking to you soon with ideas to make your trip go smoothly. Glad to have you aboard!! Sandra

Thank you all for the warm welcome! Yes, I mean 4/15/12. I do have a scheduled appointment with a gastric surgeon this month. If they can book me for April/12. ( my insurance covers Bari surgery) and if it's not a hassle I will book it here in USA, buti anticipate hurdles and blocks. I'm not willing to wait 6-12 months.

Hi pink, You should consider my surgeon, Dr Kemmeter. They are booking D.S. surgeries many afternoons monthly. I was able to get in for my surgery in 2 months, last August, now it may go quicker, depending on your insurance paperwork. He is super, and his staff so nice and caring. google St. Mary's Hospital, Grand Rapids, Michigan. Wight loss surgery. Click on questions at the top, for e-mailing Cathy Mooney, their nurse coordinator for connecting with Dr. Kemmeters program, insurance and pre surgery preparations. Hotels close to the hospital are discounted for families and patients, ask Cathy, she will have all the answers to your questions. I loved working with everyone in his practice, and would do it all again in a heartbeat!!!!
