I'm 9 weeks out and have been able to eat anything I've tried so far; no vomiting, no feeling sick, no getting anything stuck and no change in the taste of any of the foods that I liked pre-op. I have not eaten any white carbs nor have I tried any fried foods and hope to never do so. I've only gotten overly full once but not so full that I'd have to toss my cookies. Today, for example, I had a chobani yogurt, a low moisture mozzarella cheese stick and a really small fugi apple for lunch. I ate slowly and was fairly full afterwards. I eat to get my protein in and usually manage about 80grams or a little more every day. I find myself eating everything I've put in front of me, so that I don't miss out on any of my protein requirements, and even though I could stop, because I'm getting that full feeling, I'm so worried I won't meet my protein quota, I slow down even more and continue to eat, so that I can get in every gram. Am I eating too much or am I worrying needlessly?

I know they can be gross but it would help if you did some protein drinks. That way you wouldn't have to put pressure on yourself to eat everything. I am trying not to push things because I don't want to stretch things out so when I feel like I have had enough I try to stop, although I have to admit I always try to get in that one extra bite. So far I haven't gotten sick, either. Judging by the number of people who have said pretty much what you are saying I would guess you are worrying needlessly. Like I said though, if you are worried you aren't getting enough protein go ahead and supplement it. There are some tasty protein recipes out there.

If you're concerned about the quantity of food you're eating, I would advise you to focus on eating dense protein like lean meat for meals.
If I eat a plain hamburger patty, it fills me up. On the other hand, I can eat a BIG plate full of watermelon without any problem.
Foods like yogurt aren't bad for you, but they won't make you feel full because they slide right through your pouch. I save stuff like that for snacks.
I've found that having too much liquid, grease or condiments in the food makes it too easy to eat larger quantities.

Don't eat until you feel FULL...eat until you are satisfied. There is a difference. I had my surgery light years ago, but it sounds like a lot of food for 9wks out...

It's been a while since my surgery but I do concur with Lena. At 9 weeks, I couldn't eat that much at a meal. About 1 oz of dense protein was all. My suggestion is eat dense protein only, add shakes or snacks to work toward your protein goals.
I do see others that think 80 grams is minimal and it is an excellent goal to reach for just know that it MIGHT be difficult at 9 weeks out to get there without protein shakes.
I also didn't go the "FULL" route, I measured according to my surgeon's recommendations and I was satisifed with that amount.

I am 8 years out so its been a while. My surgeon told me that after surgery the nerves take a while to "wake up" and function properly to let you know when you have had enough. He told me to measure according to the chart he gave me based on my weeks out and only eat that much. The measurements were also based on the type food it was. You could have more liquid and the measurement was less for dense proteins. It is tough newly out to get the protein you need from just food. I know that I drank protein shakes at least the first several months.

Thanks ladies. I have taken your advice and have added 3 protein drinks to my diet today to total 60g of protein. I've never drank milk in my life (my mother said that I didn't even like formula as an infant, lol) and I've always hated the consistency/taste of milk shakes, so I have to ingest my protein as a drink. I'm going to cut way down on my portions too as I don't want to do any damage. We were not given guidelines by the nut on how much to eat, just to stay under 20g of carb, 5g of fat and get as much protein as possible at each meal. Again, thanks everyone for your support and advice.
