Ahhhh this NUT is toooo funny. It is a MASSSIVE waste of time to make any informed pre-op DS patient attend classes with a nut...except maybe to keep correcting her.

Absolutely. And there are 4 of us here and only 2 of us are properly educated. So very sad.

In my pre op classes I learned how absolutely uninformed these Nuts are. But at least I got a little entertainment from it--as she'd say, "You can't have steak or anything high in fats for the rest of your life and you can't drink and eat at the same time, etc." I'd just think to myself, "YES I CAN!!!!" and give a chuckle.

Joining this website should mandatory. Its really sad for individuals that are just unaware that it exists. So grateful to be here!

When I had my pre-op NUT class, I was the only DSer there. So when she discussed the "low fat" diet, I corrected her....politely. :-) She acknowledged that I was correct, but then quickly moved on to other topics.

The fat thing.....the NP had tha nerve to tell me....."even though your having the DS you should still eat low fat".
All I could do was smdh at all the misinformed/uninformed people at this class. I would have HOPED that they would have known more about their surgery before the pre-op class. Ohhhh and the "test" they give you, you complete during the class where they give you all the answers.

At my pre-op class it was one Lap-band, one, RNY, an me (the center's first DS) The class went like "You do this, LB You do that, RNY. I don't know what you do, DS." Fortunately I'd done enough research to not be too concerned. What's sad, is even though they think they're up on DS stuff, most of it is re-hashed RNY stuff. Or so it would appear from what is posted on their FB page.
