I had the DS on 11/24/14. My doc checked my labs yesterday because I have low energy and I'm white as a styrofoam cup. Labs came back all in mid range or higher. Is this normal? Thanks Shawn

Ferritin 264 B12 assay 586 Hemoglobin 14.1 Hematocrit 43.7
I'm Still waiting for some more to come back but these were the ones I wouldhave figured to be off. All my labs pre op were awesome. I took vitamins before surgery to get in the habit of taking them. I'm Only 9 weeks out, I did think I wou burn through my storage that fast. I have dropped 81 pounds since surgery. My sugars we're 327 the morning of surgery and never get above 110 now. I did start working out at the gym New Years day. Okay I may have just answered my question. According to fitness pal I average between 1000-1200 calories a day and I burn 350 or more on the treadmill plus we only absorb 60 percent of my protein. Maybe Im just not getting enough of anything in??? Thanks again Shawn

That's way too soon. Not sure what you're doing at the gym, but unless you are simply walking on the treadmill you may be doing too much. I'm guessing that if you're burning 350 calories you're doing more than simply walking on the treadmill. You had MAJOR surgery less than 2 months ago. This is not a sprint to the finish lie. You need to slow down. DO NOT COUNT CALORIES. You need protein. How's your water intake? Are you staying hydrated?

81 pounds in 9 weeks is remarkable.
jpcello is right. Besides the massive task of processing all that fat out of your body, you are still healing.
Be gentle with yourself.
Walking on a treadmill is fine, but as a male who is actively working out, you need more protein. A minimum of 190 grams a day.
Ignore the calories. They don't apply to you anymore.

I'm Mostly walking on the treadmill, sidewalks up here are too dangerous! I put my food in fitness pal to track my protein not my calories but it still shows them both. Yes I'm getting all my water in about 80 ounces a day. I was cleared at 4 weeks to work out on treadmill and I can't lift over 20 pounds because of a rotar cuff repair in August. I put in my weight on the treadmill and it tells me how much I burn. I am a nurse so I'm not completely niave to healing from surgery but I jcan't figure out why I'm so pale. Thanks Shawn

Be careful about the weight lifting. Anyone who has had abdominal surgery is at a greater risk for hernias. Go slowly and don't push yourself with any lifting that involves your core muscles.
You have been pushing yourself too hard especially considering the huge amount of weight you have lost so rapidly.
Regarding being pale, try more protein and more rest.
