I don't know how long I can keep up with 200g of protein. I was so full after dinner I couldn't take my 3rd shake. I had to go to the bathroom so bad this morning I almost didn't make it. I can't just get up and go it takes me about 10 minutes to get my legs on. The smell was so bad that the whole house stunk. I am sure everything I ate yesterday came out this morning. I don't know if it was the 3 eggs cheese omelette or the chicken salad or what but that was the worst. I am using whole milk in my shakes for the extra protein but I think I will have to go back to the Lactose Free.

Many DSers are lactose intolerant, myself included. Try cutting out the cheese and the whole milk.
200g of protein is not negotiable. Unless of course you want to continue to starve yourself to death by malnutrition.
Please post your food log from yesterday.
What was in the chicken salad?
You are starting from the very beginning. All of us had to do lots of trial and error, experimenting, tolerating all kinds of digestive issues….that is part of living with the DS. But adequate protein, fluids and vitamins are not negotiable, no matter what.
Many DSers have urgent, stinky poops in the morning, multiple times. This board is full of posts about it.

Why do you need to take your 3rd shake after dinner?
Schedule:
Breakfast with 20g protein
midmorning shake
Lunch with 20g protein
mid afternoon shake
late afternoon/early evening shake
dinner 8pm with 20g protein (because you said you eat dinner at 8)
That's it.
Make sure you eat the 20g of protein FIRST before you eat anything else.

IF YOU'RE TOO FULL TO EAT YOUR PROTEIN - THEN WHY ARE YOU EATING SALAD AND ICE CREAM AND A HAMBURGER BUN?
Get on the schedule I wrote for you.
Do not have a protein shake with a meal.
breakfast snack shake lunch snack shake another shake dinner
You do not need to stuff yourself - get the protein in first and then ONLY IF you have room for something else you can eat it. But DO NOT be drinking 2 cups of milk and eating ice cream- no wonder you have the shits.
Plus that manwich stuff is FULL of sugar.
Make some meatloaf, keep roast chicken in the house, eat eggs, fish. PROTEIN.

Dear Pat,
I would like to take a moment to tell you that you are a very lucky man, and it is likely that you don't even realize it.
The lady known as newyorkbitch is giving you the best information available. Better than you will get from a doctor. Trust me. She has lived successfully and healthfully with the DS for many years. Apparently, she has taken a special interest in you, as she has posted more to you and for you than I have seen her post to or for anyone else.
The time she is spending with you indicates a deep concern about you and a giving spirit that often goes unheralded. As a matter of course, she is generally a woman of very few, carefully selected words. Depending upon what part of the country you come from, she can appear abrupt. Many times I have seen her say what she has to say and then leave it alone. With you, she has been after you for several days, responding to your every post and smashing down your repeated excuses for not doing what you need to do. I believe this is why so few other people are posting. They don't need to. She's got your covered.
You're a tough case, Pat. Between the sorry shape you're in and your hard head, you've managed to get yourself pretty close to where you will die if you don't change. You can keep on starting new threads about how hard this is and keep not listening to newyorkbitch and keep on doing this self-defeating number for as long as you want. You've done it very well so far. I give you 5 gold stars for it. Or....
You can realize that you are a lucky man that this knowledgeable person has chosen to pay attention to the condition you are in and give a damn about you. Listen to what she is telling you. Personally, I hope that your Manwiches and ice cream are not more important to you than living a healthy life. Obviously, newyorkbitch feels the same way. I hope you will stop screwing yourself over and listen to what she has to say. You are in my prayers for a healthy body and an open mind.

Well believe it or not I am thankful and I am going to try doing what she says The Haagen Daz bar was just a treat to me. I will try to plan my meals a little better. I a lot of the time eat something a normal person would eat for lunch for breakfast. But I could have the sloppy Joe without the bun with the cheese. And the chicken salad with maybe a 1/2 cup of green salad and more chicken and I love feta cheese. I think I am going to try to plan my meal before I eat it with My Fitness Pal. Part of it is I am stupid about what I can eat that is high in protein and not so filling. I will try to do better today. Finally heard from my PCPs nurse and I put the questions to him that NYB put forth. He still has not seen my labs but hope to hear something later today. So far today I have only had my shake breakfast is next. Think I will just have the chicken with a little salad dressing and a little cheese. By the way the gal that used to be one of our good friend on the other side of the state will get a big kick out of the name NYB her and her husband are from Brooklyn born and raised and she is a kick. Also I think Vitalady is in WA state like me I know the area code is WA state and she went to the same surgeon as me the first time. Only one in WA at that time. I probably will have to pay sales tax tho

Thank you thank you NYB (and Pat). I found Pat's post on the what I consider now dead DS support forum boards that I used to belong to way back as an early pre and post op, 10 and 12 years ago. I asked him to PLEASE come here because I knew he'd get great advice and a whole lot of care and concern.
Pat do please know that we CARE very much about you. I'm still so very sorry about how poorly your health turned out. You can get this going and be healthy and strong. It will take time and consistentcy, it won't happen overnight.

Pat - yes, Vitalady is in Washington State (Puyallup). I have been on her regime for years, ever since my labs tanked because I took the advice of my surgeon (great surgeon, lousy follow up care).
I think NYB's concern about your protein is justified. It can be hard to give up the treats, but until you get your protein levels closer to a normal range, you really need to focus all of your energies on protein and vitamins. The rest will come back with time.
You need to learn how to read labels and become familiar with the two things that count - protein and carbs. You can find nutritional information on any food online - simply google it. When I first had my surgery it took me hours to grocery shop because I would read every label, compare products to make sure I was getting the most of what I was putting in my mouth.
You've got lots of catch up but you can do it. We're here to help.

You said everything so well! All the things I tried to say in my post, but not near as concise and eloquent, great post!
