I'm at work- working hard, as you can see. I am posting because my belly is SORE. I'm going to have to take some pain meds. What?? I haven't taken anything in two weeks. I can't sit for too long or stand for too long... bummer. I thought I was better than this. But today is better than yesterday- yesterday the nausea was TERRIBLE. Every day is a new day, right? Nothing easy here folks... and it just hit me: I'M STILL FAT!!!!!!!! That actually makes me laugh. After all this, I thought I'd somehow be...more DIFFERENT!!! What a journey...I still hope this surgery works for me!!

I'm sorry you're not able to get more time off. I remember that feeling at about 3-4 weeks where if I sat at my computer desk, my tummy hurt. If I stood it hurt. I never would have made it at work - so you have an amazing tolerance level!! Take some Tylenol and maybe that will be enough to ease the pain .... And try to rest a lot lmce you're home!!

Do you absolutely have to be at work? I thought you were trying to do this way too soon. I'm so sorry you are going through this.

I think this is just awful Is your actual surgeon back, have you talked to HIM, not this idiot partner who doesn't have a clue? Sorry, I hate to 'dis' other people's medical care, but this partner of your surgeon's is a first-rate jerk, wrong on all fronts, can't for the life of me understand his insistence you go back to work, what skin off his nose is it? You're a PATIENT who just underwent major GI surgery, and, you don't have a sedentary job, the opposite, highly demanding teaching job!

One day, soon, you will not be fat. And it will happen very very quickly.
Now get the hell outta there, get at least another 2 weeks off, and take care of yourself! This is way too soon to be back to a full time teaching job after MAJOR abdominal surgery!

Yea, you can't do this. It's not fair to anybody, especially you. Let us know what happens tomorrow....

You only knew what your surgeon told you and he was wrong. No one who hasn't had the surgery knows what it feels like.
Glad you got the week off. Push hard for next week, too. And take care of yourself.

GOOD and keep pushing him to do what YOU NEED you are the patient, and you need to take care of yourself. Besides giving you an unrealistic time frame for returning to work, did he offer any explanation for his partner being so flipping unreasonable when you were in clear physical distress??!! Take care, rest, sip, breathe, I feel so bad you're going through this added stress when you should be 100% focused on healing!

And I hope you tell your surgeon that he needs to educate his partner(s) on the length of time appropriate to be home after surgery. Or maybe himself. There should be clear guidelines for the practice. No patient should have to request more than 2 weeks - that's absurd.

It's not like you had your tonsils taken out or something. This is MAJOR freaking surgery. Drives me nuts. Glad you have the rest of this week to recover at the very minimum...but I would ask for even more time. Stay strong!!
