www.obesityhelp.com/forums/ds/4489042/Please-comment-on-my-lap-band-doc-email-regarding-DS/#37142773I'd be willing to bet she had Terry Simpson, the turncoat AZ surgeon who USED to be a DS surgeon. But his follow-up SUCKED and nobody wanted to use him for follow up anyway (oh boo hoo: "one of the reasons I stopped was in 2003 I did over 350 DS and in 2005 only 3 people came back to follow up with their labs." - gee, I wonder why Rabkin and many other DS surgeons DO have patients who follow up with them?? Maybe because he's an arrogant ASSHOLE?). Simpson dropped the DS and began doing solely the lapband for reasons that I would be willing to bet even more were primarily financial - you all know how a lapband continues to generate money for the surgeon, and of course there are those "incentives" (AKA kickbacks) from the manufacturers. I've had a couple of NASTY interactions with Simpson over this. Someone needs to tell "usandall" to get her ass over here. She should be contacting coehospital@yahoo.com to find out if she qualifies for the special plan - the surgeon is including non-eroded lapband to VSG or DS revisions. Anyway, get her over here please. No offense to Dr. Ungson, but she can get this in the US. And fucking SHAME on Simpson for the utter bullshit he is telling her about the DS. Check out what he said about the DS in a letter he wrote for me when I was pursuing the DS in 2003 - which is another reason his betrayal of the DS appears to me to be motivated by $$$. Attachments:

Good luck with your quest for the DS. You won't regret your decision.

The DS is not a malabsorptive procedure. Just, wow.

I attempted the coehospital@yahoo.com site however I am not having any luck. Thank you for any help it would be appreciated Donna It is Saturday night. Don't expect a response for a few days. Wait - you said "site" - you do realize that's an email address, don't you? You have to send an email asking for more information about their special program; they will send you a confidentiality agreement because they don't want the special price or who the surgeon is discussed, and then they will let you know. It really is on the up-and-up.

I'm glad you're following up with other options, usandall.

yes I was looking for a site I am sorry............... I had so many responses on the other site. I am pleased you contacted me. I was surprised by the letter and wondered what year it was written? Do you think I am thinking OK when I am looking at this as a life time fix? The MD offered to empty me and follow for 3 months at no cost however I am so exhausted the thoughts of repeating what I have been doing for the past 2 years makes me want to cry. I am 5 4 and 195 ish. I was 206 when I had my lap band and I got down to 190. 16 pounds lost. I was told the tool did not fail me I had to learn how to work with the tool. I have 10 cc in and I do not feel as if I ever had restriction. I am so tired of this Merry go round and want a life time fix and I am willing to take the vit and do the fu test. I wonder what happens when we are old and out of it who then will advocate for us........... or perhaps by then it wont matter and any long term problems will not be an issue because I will not be on this earth. My longest living relative was only 72............... any way any assist in making my ultimate decision is so appreciated. Thank you Donna

The letter was written in 2003. Simpson told me at that time that if HE needed bariatric surgery, it would be the DS.
You're a lightweight, no matter how crappy you feel. You weigh what I weigh, and I'm quite comfortable. I'm an inch taller than you. Unless you have one or more severe comorbidities, you are not even qualified for surgery under the NIH guidelines. But if you need malabsorption to lose, or to cure diabetes, I get that.
Is it a life-time fix? Only if you follow the rules. But the rules are not hard to follow.

I hadn't seen this thread....but I couldn't HELP but post--my first in a couple of months I think--asking if this was Scary Terry.
He really thinks that the problem is either the procedure or, maybe, the patients.
Not quite.
