Hubby and I went out for lunch today. I had a salad with a lot of eggs and bacon on it..not much lettuce, a few tomatoes, and a few cucumber slices. I couldn't finish it (oh, and had water to drink), but since we left the restaurant I've had a nagging off-and-on pain on my upper (front) left side.
The pain has been off-and-on for about an hour now, hasn't moved from the original site. It's not an unbearable pain...I'd say about a 4 on a scale of 1-10. Hubby keeps asking if I want to go to the hospital (the local one, not the one I had surgery at). I don't want to go and it be nothing...I'd feel stupid. Could it be that I just ate salad too early or too much?
I had salad (a small one here at home) since surgery (11/28) and had no reactions to it so I thought I was ok. How long before our insides are totally healed?
Any opinions or ideas?

I didn't try any salad type things until about 4-5 months out, and even now, a year out, can't eat cucumbers. What you're feeling could be the salad or a single item in it. Hope you feel better soon,

My surgeon said no salad or beef until I was 10 weeks out because of how difficult it is to digest and he said there is a high risk for rupturing the stomach sutures up until 10 weeks and still some chance through three or 4 months out. I'd be careful. (he also said no bread of any kid--duh--for 10 weeks too because it expands in the tummy)
When it doubt, go have it checked out. When it comes to this surgery, I don't think there is wrong with checking it out. If it's nothing, go out and celebrate (not with a salad!)!!!!

I'm 13 weeks out and seem to handle cucumbers really well (if they're peeled). I've been avoiding lettuce and tomatoes with the skin on are still a bit dicey. Maybe it's the bacon? I get stomach pain when I try to eat any type of dense, hard to digest protein including chicken, beef or small pieces of bacon. The pain subsides in an hour or two... or sooner if I cough up one of my famous stomach slimeballs. ;D

"Slimeballs?" No need to go into detail! :-)

When in doubt, call the doc. But I suspect you overdid the veggies.
