I get the Calcium Citrate from Sam's Club, $8.99 for 400 pills. Since I'm in Canada though I have someone buy it for me then ship it up (:

Those are the wrong kind of calcium anyhow. Currently I'm using up a bottle of plain old generic calcium CITRATE from Costco, but my favorite is Country Life Target-Mins Calcium-Magnesium Complex: www.swansonvitamins.com/CRL260/ItemDetail

If you can't take the pills dissolve them in something first and then swallow.
You can use the Costco ones that way or any other brand that has the right amount of calcium citrate.

Hey shae,
The BA carmels are yummy. You will be able to swallow the pills soon so it's only a short time for chewables. I was told that we don't completely digest gummies so don't go there. You can dissolve in water, crush and mix in yogurt (yech) or get the carmels. Doc's office carries them and remember this time frame is short, you will be able to take pills soon.

That's why we don't listen to doctors about anything related to nutrition here. Take the plain old horse pill calcium CITRATE and let it fall to powder (it won't really dissolve) in a little water. No taste, tiniest tiny bit of grittiness, cheap and easier even than a chewable. Why can't you swallow pills?

A while back, their product was independently tested and found to have only a fraction of the elemental calcium they claimed on their label. That may or may not have been fixed.

I have been warned not to use calcium carbonate or you could develop Kidney stones. Calcium citrate is the correct calcium. I use Costco brand and stock up when it is discounted. Also check to see how many pills you need to take to get each dose. Some of them require four pills per dose as they are small or contain other ingredients. I like those that include magnesium but they usually also have phosphorus which my tests show I have far too much of in my system. I have been instructed to cut the phosphorus.

I just picked up a ton of Citracal Calcium Citrate Petites at Target this afternoon. Buy 3 and get a free $5 Target Gift Card.... in case anyone wants to stock up. I'm thinking this supply should last me several months. ;D Can any of the vitamin gurus tell me how many of these Citracal Petites I should be taking per day? These are the ones I got: www.drugstore.com/citracal-calcium-citrate-with-vitamin-d-petites-coated-tablets/qxp17278Thanks in advance for kicking me a clue.

In addition to calcium citrate caplets, I take a few other types of calcium with more punch, which are sort of expensive, but if they make it easier on this stage for you, may be worth it.
I also take calcium bisglycinate, and MCHA (micro crystaline hydroxy apatite, or something like that) as well as a liquid citrate - Buried Treasure Plus, because it has many co-factors that help us utilize the calcium. It also packs 1000 mg per dose, so if I take a smaller swig, I'm still probably getting 500 mg. The liquid tastes like ass, and is pricey, but I think it's well worth it, since I feel like I'm getting more out of calcium that is already in liquid form, ready for my stomach to absorb without having to break anything down.

I don't seem to malabsorb B vitamins much, if at all, and the Kirkland calcium had b6 added, which I though was a bonus, but my B's go sky high if I take any. Bums me out - that is one of the best deals on calcium.

I use Jarrow Bone Up (has calcium hydroxyapatite in it) and Cal/Mag Citrate. Both come in capsules and can be emptied into a little SF pudding or yogurt and eaten that way if you can't swallow capsules.

Two tablets four times a day or three tablets three times a day. Four times is better for the absorption, but if you're like me and that fourth dose is just almost never going to happen (though I did manage it for a while when I went back to school--took a dose before each of four classes), then do it in three.

I forget, do we absorb tricalcium phosphate? I was looking at some chew things the other day and that's what they were. Couldn't recall the skinny on that stuff.

Kirkland calcium citrate for me.
You are still early out so swallowing is a bit more difficult. You have been given several good suggestions to use or now. In a few months you will find yourself able to take a handful of pills at once and the size will not longer be an issue.

I had 8 tablets per day written in my notes and didn't quite believe it. Thanks for confirming that, EN! I think I'll go the 3x per day route and adjust later if my labs look crappy. Thanks again!

and I take 2 tablets at 315 each for a total of 630, five different times a day, so I exceed 3000 daily.
I keep the tablets in containers all of the house, in my purse, in my desk, in my car. They are never far so it is easy to grab and pop down a couple of those suckers. I make sure to take doses 2 hours plus apart.
