So... I posted about having a fever earlier this week and as it turns out the fever was just a symptom of an internal abscess that developed near my spleen
I had fever only 3days and no abdominal pain, just nasuea and no appetite. Turns put every time I ate my stomach would push against the abscess. Sigh. So I pretty much haven't. Eaten in 3 days and am waiting on another swallow.study and cat scan tomorrow. I will be on here 3 days total. I don't even want to think about how much it is going to cost. I just keep trying to focus on my health and safety... money will come and more often go. Just wanted to share my experience with you guys. Take care.

I know all about abscesses; old hat right here. They suck and I feel your pain. Just focus on getting better, and I hope you heal very quickly. (Mine took almost 8 weeks in the hospital and almost 5 months with a PICC line and TPN.) I bet you will be up and at'em in no time. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

So sorry this has happened to you! Hopefully they will drain it using the CT scan as a guide and you'll feel much better.

Huge bummer . Hang in there. Money can be had or not, and bankruptcy is a hell of a lot easier to survive than dying is. Just focus on getting well.

I am so sorry this had happened to you! Abscesses are very serious. It took me months to recover from mine. I had a liver abscess that probably formed due to diverticulitis. This was a few years before my DS. Try to get as much of your treatment as an outpatient to same money. Convince the caregivers that you are capable of self administration of your antibiotics, etc. That should save some money. Please keep us informed of your progress-we do care. I am hoping you have a very speedy recovery because you were correctly diagnosed early. (I was misdiagnosed and left untreated for weeks which lead to a long recovery)

Hey Hon, Just wamted to tell you I here ya on the abcess. I had one that developed over 7 months after surgery due to a slow leak. I had 2 surgeries, drains, PICC lines. I ended up with a huge medical bill, but EN's right, money does come and go, you gotta get well as without your health, moneys not worth a damn anyway. Sending healing thoughts your way!!

So sorry this has happened to you! Hopefully they will drain it using the CT scan as a guide and you'll feel much better. Larra This is exactly what they did and I feel exponentially better! Though the procedure itself was tough. After another successful swallow study I can have liquids again after 72 hours without! Still not sure how it started though, especially since it manifested three weeks after surgery... Thanks for everyone's warm wishes

Man do I feel you!!! I hope you are starting to feel better and things go well for you. Scares the crap out of me the idea of an abscess. No good.

Thanks everyone I had my drain removed Wednesday (after a total of 2 weeks in.) The doctor had wanted me to keep it in until this Monday, but the stitches came loose and it was popping out. When it took it out, I found out the tube was a foot long! So... on Monday I will have a CT scan which will hopefully reveal no more fluid.

Ohhh, so sorry you have to deal with this :-( I hope you have a good CT scan and you get this behind you as soon as possible. (I couldn't watch when my doc pulled my drains, I nearly passed out, saw stars, SO much tubing they get in there!)

I'm glad that they found the abscess in a reasonable amount of time & you were treated appropriately. Hopefully your CT will be clear & this will be a distant, unpleasant memory soon.
Best wishes, Shelli
