Has any one had experience with constant bladder pain, possibly from supplement irritation or what? I am 5 months out, in the dark about it. Contacted Surgeons office, they want a urology investigation before they will tell me their thoughts, but it could be D.S. related. I would love to begin eliminating vitamins or supplements to find the cause and get relief soon, but they don't want me to yet. Told me 2 months ago it was not from their surgery, too low location. My PCP has taken blood, and urine for testing for infection. No pain when" going" like a usual bladder infection, aches more when full in the AM. I have a rush appointment with a urologist next Mon. At least the PCP cares to get me some help fast. Hurts to sit down and stand up. Cant walk or exercise without constant aching pain. Any ideas or experience with this much appreciated!!!! Sandra

Thanks Gail and Beth! Your ideas are along the right track I think. Although I don't have urgency, Antihistamines, and aspartame I read may be linked with causing my symptoms, along with most of the foods on my diet,Protein lemonade and SF chocolate protein bars and Calcet Citrate Creamy Bites fudge. Many unpleasant tests are in my future and an elimination diet to isolate the culprits . There are other causes I found, only testing by a urologist will be able to sort it all out.

Could be a kidney stone trying to pass. Especially if you have low calcium.

I don't have low calcium, but we did consider kidney stones because I did have stone symptoms a few years ago, suddenly pain disappeared. this pain is located in a different spot, front low center above pubic bone, increasing pain as bladder fills, with no feeling like I need to go all day. Potassium can be an irritant I read. I was low potassium 2 months ago the only low vit listed, now shouldn't be with larger vitamin dose. Next bariatric blood work due in a few weeks. Blood test for urologist and PCP yesterday.
Thanks for helping everyone!!

Ask about interstitial cystitis. Yes, definitely ask about interstitial cystitis (IC). I have it--I've had it for years and my mom has it too. I went to a urologist years ago, he Cystoscopy with bladder distention and found lots of pinpoint bleeding on the lining--this is NOT normal. I find that if I eat certain foods (anything acidic--too much coffee, citrus fruits, too much tomato sauce) I end up having serious cramping soar tender feelings in my bladder. The initial treatment was a Bladder Instillation. During a bladder instillation, also called a bladder wash or bath, the bladder is filled with a solution that is held for varying periods of time, (mine was 20 minutes) before being emptied. I went in two times a week for 5 or 6 weeks. And then I felt better. I don't watch my diet for the IC quite as much as I used to, but I'm aware that if i drink more than a cup of coffee or if I have too much Italian food (with the sauce) then I experience painful sensations in that area--sort of like period cramps, but worse and often the pain goes to my lower back. Hope this helps some. Here is a link to the Interstitial Cystitis Association's website. It give a lot of information about symptoms and treatment. Make sure you read everything. If it's IC, this is totally treatable. And good luck!!!!

Thanks for all the great ideas. Allergy testing may help determine which foods I am sensitive to. Checked out the IC Association web site, great list of foods which are OK, suspect, and no-no's.(thanks Sheri) ;-)

Back from the Urologist today. My diagnosis is bladder spasms from a fluid diet. All mechanical. Sent me home with "Vesicare" samples to try, for relaxing the bladder. I asked about food and drink sensitivities, not responsible at all. So happy because I am addicted to the protein lemonade, tastes like my grandma's lemon meringue pie!!!
Thanks Beth, you were right!!!
