So I went out to dinner and ate way too much steak. About 1 hour later I got horrible stomach pains which led to sweats and some nausea, but mostly stomach pains and sweats. I don't have my gallbladder. I believe I got carried away with the amount I ate for sure . So far this has lasted about 5 hours. Any input? I'm so miserable thanks for any help.. I will not do that again

It's a horrible feeling - but it will pass. I've always tried to walk it off. Hope you are feeling better.

Sorry for your experience, but I'm glad you're better. It's happened to me too many times to count.

Steak shouldn't have made you feel that way, unless the problem was that you ate too much of it. Did you eat any carby stuff with your steak? Rice will make me feel that way.
That being said, I've also been in a few uncomfortable situations where I simply ate too much food. I learned the hard way to stop eating before I felt full. And to eat slowly, one bite at a time.
Worst comes to worst, and you feel that way, just try to lay down and relax. It passes. TMI maybe but burping helps me if you can manage to do that.

Thanks BeSwitched.. Scared me a little.. @ Joanne B I only ate steak and way too much I got carried away chatting and eating. I manage to stay away from carbs. I just got kinda scared cause I have never experienced that before. And don't want to again.. Thanks for replying. Lulu I think too much depends on each person. Had I been paying attention and not chatting I would have stopped as soon as I felt the first sign of fullness. I can eat about 6 ounces of steak if I eat nothing else with it . Typically I will eat 4 ounces or so of meat and a few bites of salad. Steak and salad are my favorite always! But I didn't even make it to salad last night.. Please remember this.. Trust me u don't want experience this!! I don't know the last time I felt this horrible.. But a good lesson to learn!!

If it ever happens again, papaya enzymes can help. They help break down the food faster.

I didn't know this could happen! It happens all the time with my dumb band, I was sort of hoping for a DS life free of this. Blech.
What causes it in the DS? For my band it's usually something stuck. It's not like the feeling of dumping, is it? (I know DSers don't dump).

That happens to me when I eat anything more than trace amounts of chicken or steak. Awful stomach pain. It seems like my stomach goes into overdrive trying to break down the meat. Usually an hour later I end up barfing up a big slimeball (mucous/clear gastric juices) and then I feel totally fine. But the meat does stay down... which is good I guess. I have a feeling it's going to be at least a year until I can stomach steak or chicken. Fortunately, my stomach loves walleye and crab legs, so at least there's some meat I can eat.

Oh, okay gotcha. Like if you take one more bite you will erupt, kind of thing. Uck, not fun!

Thanks for the info ladies. Chicarita it was not a stuck feeling. It was horrible stomach pain. Im certain from eating too much and probably too fast. Shannds I would be interested where to get the Papaya extract also. Thanks again. Glad others have experienced this and were able to give some insight. Even though it is a miserable feeling.

Yeah I've had this happen on occasion, if I wolf something down and my stomach doesn't like me it will just sit like a rock and HURT. Luckily it doesn't happen often!

I'm 8 years out, and I STILL get that feeling if I eat too much too fast.

I had the same thing happen when I ate my first real meal of meat too fast. The air I swallowed with the food didn't have a chance to escape up and out. The fast swallowed food trapped air deep. Now I eat a bite or two, chew for a longer time than I did pre D.S. then wait for all to settle before having the next bite. That gives me a chance to read my stomach signals when its full to capacity, otherwise its difficult to know which bite is the last it can hold.
I eat fresh papaya every few days to add lots of fiber, and clear out my system.

You overloaded and for some reason, your eject button did not operate. When I get into that condition, it basically takes one more swallow and HELLO EJECT BUTTON. For me, trying to swallow an enzyme tablet would do it *gag*. It only takes once or twice to learn that there is such a thing as eating too fast eh? We have to PAY ATTENTION to eating. I sometimes have trouble eating in a conversation because I eat too fast, and prefer to read or use the computer while eating. I'm able to be more mindful of how I feel that way, and I eat slower, as well.
