I just received the most amazing hug from my baby! For the first time in almost ten years my son Jayden can wrap his arms all the way around me and give me a hug. 6 months ago that was just a dream. It felt so good all I could do was scream, shout and tell him how awesome he was, followed up of course by big ol Mommy tears. I never thought how good something so small could feel. Without my DS I never would of known what that felt like.

This almost made me cry. That's so sweet. That's what having this surgery is all about...the little things in life that you miss out on when you have all of that extra weight. Congratulations and keep up the good work!

Thats so sweet to have a "wrap around" hug from your son!!! Wrapping arms around is a feeling of complete love!! My husband is always pleasantly surprised in his ability to give me a "wrap around" hug now. I received another type of hug of thanks tonight from the doc who told me 7 months ago I should be a petite size. I thanked him for changing my life, being responsible for me seeking WLS. He was so happy, he had no idea he had such an effect on me. Every one who has seen the transformation from the old me to the new me is pleasantly shocked to see the difference. Makes me feel confident I made the right choice to have the D.S. I am so happy!!! Hugs are the best!!! ;-)

Isn't that wonderful! My kids used to tell me I didn't need to lose weight they just had to grow longer arms. My son thinks it is amazing that now he can hug me and hold his elbows around me. THe DS is amazing, it has given me so many new amazing mom moments. I wish you a million more!

Love your story. I have to ask for and even force hugs from my babies. 20, 24 and 27. The oldest, a son, is the best hugger of the three. Seems like they are less embarrassed to hug now that I am "normal" sized.

Awww! That's wonderful! I got a hug from my son the other day too. He's probably a bit older than yours... he's 22. Of course the hug was followed up by him asking me for a favor. Typical kids. LOL! Not only that but he tried to butter me up by saying that I was getting small and he actually lifted me up an inch or two off the ground! That freaked me out! Oh yeah, and he got his "favor". He needed a ride to pick his car up from the shop.

Thanks everyone! My son is 9 (he'll be 10 in April). I've always been so heavy that I thought by the time he would come close enough to wrap his arms around me he would be older. Writing the post to share made me tear up so I'm glad everyone liked my share as much as I did. Here's a picture of us together in the pajama pants I got to wear to the hospital when I had my DS (ignore my hair lol). I'm going to try and hold him down long enough to take another picture with him wrapping his arms around me. It feels so good to be hugged like that. I can't believe it wasn't until I was 31 that I was able to feel it from someone!
