I had VSG on 5/9/11. I have lost 83 pounds so far. I haven't had any complications, but for the past week or so, I have been feeling weak. I am not anemic, but I have noticed that I am not getting in as much protein.
Do you think the decrease in protein could be causing the weakness?

On average how much protein are you getting in?

Probably close to 70 grams per day during the past couple of weeks. Total calories have been 800-1000 per day.

Well, that's techinically up in the range of protein that you need. I've experienced fatigue on and off during the past few months. Maybe its just a cycle of adjustment for your body. I've read other people report bouts of fatigue also. As long as you are getting the proper nutrients and protein, it may just be a phase.
I've noticed a little bit of muscle weakness and I think it is probably some muscle mass loss. I'm trying to counteract that with exercise, but I think the weakness will be there until I can build back up my muscle mass. Amy

70 or higher protein is my daily target.. so not sure if that's an issue or not. When were your last labs pulled and did you check everything yourself to make sure everything is staying in the proper range and not falling (please check your own numbers, many Drs won't catch a falling number until you have hit a real deficiency..)

are you sure you are getting in enough water/fluid?
have you had your blood pressure taken? I was on medication for mine and I was only 30 pounds down when my BP was then too low. I got weak but especially when standing up - and dizzy.
FYI - anyone going of BP med needs to be careful, there can be a rebound
not sure if that's your issue, Princess, but that's all I can think of.

I made an appointment with my PCP for today. I think that it is the fluid intake. I have not been drinking water like I should. I have a big cup of water on my desk now, and I am going to have labs drawn just to be sure. I didn't even think about the fluids until Jackie brought it up. I usually do OK, but I have been so busy since the holidays that I haven't made sure that I am drinking all 6 bottles per day. Thank you.

I am officially dehydrated. That is the verdict of the lab work. Will continue to drink water like crazy. Thank you everyone. Should feel better by the end of the weekend.
