For those of you who had a lapband and know what restriction feels like...do you have the same feeling with the DS when you eat and do you ever get "stuck" or not so much so?

No restriction at all. I was very weary of the whole restriction thing and was fearful I would get it with the ds. I am so happy post surgery, no restriction problems at all.

No weird stuck feelings or harsh restriction issues for me either. The sleeve part of my DS is everything I EXPECTED my crapband to be - and wasn't. Eating with my sleeve is nothing short of glorious. It simply allows me to eat smaller meals and get full....which is exactly what I need. I don't need an effin choke-chain torturing me because of that *one* bite to many or sliming/foamies, etc., because I forgot to take a pea-size amount and chew it to smithereens. A pleasant feeling of "hey, you're good to go" works wonders for me. I am VERY pleased with this new tool. ;D

I am a little different. Never had restriction and don't get stuck now. No more heaving like a cat trying to cough up a fur ball, to get that dang piece of chicken out.
But if I eat too fast or too much, I get nauseated and "tight". Hard to explain but I had the same feeling I the band. The bad damaged my esophagus and now I have slight motility issues, so that could be part of the reason.
But the sleeve is 10,000% percent better than that evil little plastic torture device.

I actually learned where my stomach was after the DS! I was so used to 8 years of feeling the food sit so high because of the band and also it getting stuck. Now with the DS my food goes into my real stomach, it's wonderful!! I don't know how it was with your band, but my food would come up just looking the wrong way at something, and not over eating, just any time I ate and that band disagreed. Now I just stop and the food stays put and goes down, an amazing difference. I'm not far out, but I do splurge every now and then on tomatoes and apples. The first time I ate an apple slice it was just amazing, fruits and uncooked veggies generally did not agree with me so I hadn't been able to eat an apple in almost 6 years. I can't say enough good things about getting rid of that horrible thing and going to the DS.

I had given up hope on ever being able to eat fruits, veggies, anything with a peel, and/or dense proteins again...okay, let's be honest. I pretty much couldn't eat anything but slider foods for the last 2 years while I was having complications. AND my band was completely empty. Kill me now. I love my sleeve/DS!

The DS is 1000% better than the band. No more choking and vomiting all the time. Now I get full pretty quick and stop eating. Life is so simple now...
