Hopefully some of you have read about some of my weight loss surgery journey on the other site. I am so excited to say I have a possible surgery date. I still need my stress test and psych eval done along with the results of the tests I have taken recently. I also need to be seen by Dr. Rabkin to get his approval. I have been seeking surgery for over 4 years and with a possible date scheduled I am so excited and so nervous that I just need to find a way to relax for a minute. Just got the news within the last hour. Thanks everyone for being part of my journey, your online posts and replies that I read daily give me the strenth to continue on.

I also ended up having to wait to get my DS. It took me almost three years, which was an eternity so I really feel for you having to wait even longer. I know that feeling when you finally realize it is about to become a reality. Just remember everything you've gone through to get this far when the nerves really hit you (and they will...) What got me through it was: 1. the damned airplane doors were sealed before I could escape, and 2. I had an awesome doctor and I knew I was in very capable hands. You also have an awesome doctor so rely on that knowledge when and if the nerves get bad. When is your date?

Hey Ted Congratulations! What a great Valentine present to yourself. I don't think I ever had a nervous moment about going into surgery. I would have skipped to the OR if I could. May the time pass quickly and have a smooth trip on the road to good health!

Hey there! So glad to hear that you're finally getting there. I waited about 1/2 as long as you, 2 years. Keeping your eye on the prize is so important. I believe that waiting gave me time to learn how to live with my DS, thus making me a better DSer post op. The people here are what pulled me through and taught me everything I've needed to be successful! Good luck to you! Make sure you let us all know when you get the BIG DAY!!

I remember when I got my surgery date back in early Sept. It came in the form of an email from my surgeon's office. I was so excited I was jumping up and down and high five-ing myself all over the house. LOL! I guess I'm kind of a spaz that way.
Here's a digital high five for you Bigcoop! o/\o

That is awesome news. You couldn't be in better hands than Dr. Rabkin. (Of course, I'm biased.) I'll keep my fingers crossed that you get a date in the very near future. Kim

Dr R is the best !! you will see a short movie so you understand the procedure then Dr R will ask you questions to know that you were paying attention. . Maria, Matt and Ernesto will walk you through all the steps and you'll get your Red Binder... your bible for the next year or so. Dr R wrote a letter for me to get me over the last hurdle with my insurance co.. I am so excited for you !! I'm here for ya if you need a buddy to walk the hallways with.. If your really lucky, you'll get the corner room with the view of the Golden Gate bridge. keep us posted xoxox keliblue

Again thanks to all for the info and words of support. My psych eval @ Richmond Kaiser seemed to go well. It was alot more relaxed and quicker than I expected. She asked if I was a outside referral most likely because of my size and was very respectful and courteous. Now next stop is San Fran to see the Dr. Rabkin in 5 days.

Congratulations on "checking off" the psych requirement. Keep on the path and rejoice in all of the little victories. One step at a time and you will achieve your goal before you know it!
