Howdy folks! I got my labs done months ago, but never posted them. I will try to figure out how..Here is my vite schedule and my Questions, and thanks!
With Breakfast: Dry A 25000 IU Dry Vitamin D3 - 2x 5000 IU Dry E - 400 i.u. Vitamin K 100 mcg 1 Super B-100 complex 1 Centrum Multi
With Lunch: Super B-100 Centrum Multi
Before Bed: 2 Vitron-C with iron (I have anemia)
1) I've developed burning, tingling lips in the past 3wks or so. Can it be a vitamin thing?
2) Has anyone tried the Bariatric Advantage Chewy IRON bites? or the Chewable iron lozenges?
3) Prostat64. I've been told we cant absorb this, yet, on another DS blog, someone is using this to pump up their protein. Can someone tell me which forms of protein (besides Whey/soy) we can use? For instance, Protica brand protein twist candy contains "Actinase [patent pending blend of enzymatically hydrolyzed collagenic protein isolate, whey protein isolate (milk) and casein protein isolate (milk)" -- can I eat these and get the 15g of protein each small candy has?
Again thanks!!

Did you have the DS? If so you probably you should be supplementing much more.I use the vitalady schedule and even with that have had to increase some supplements based on my labs. My iron has floundered even with proferrin an heme iron three times a day so now I am getting infusions. What are your iron panel results? I use whey protein isolate 2 scoops a day for about 70 grams of protein my meals add to this amount.

I would suggest posting your labs including the reference values so that the lab vets can take a look. I, too, suspect, you're not getting enough in supplementation. For example, I take 100,000 dry vit D3 a day. Take a looknat Vitalady's recommendations as a starting point. She also summarizes the different protein supplements.

Where is your Calcium and Iron? Those are two biggies that are glaringly absent from your lineup, and the amounts you get in a multi-vite are not nearly enough for the average DSer.
How is your PTH levels? This could indicate if you are needing more Calcium.
Like others have said, it would be helpful to the lab gurus if you post your lab values.

Where's your calcium? How are your labs, your A could be low.
The D - are you taking dry D, or the oil based capsules? Do you mean 50,000 IU, not 5,000? The D is way low.
Are you menstruating? You probably need iron as well.
Lets have a look at your labs

Oh my! Check out this link to see my vite schedule as an example: docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AkW45jNTr72mdHFleV8yVHpPZGdCTlZpVl9WajdQVGcPlease post your last labs so that we can give you better info. I am assuming that you had them done at 6 months. Did you look them over yourself? From what you have said you are taking, you are under supplementing and you are probably deficient in some things. Again, post those labs so we can help you!

Hi Folks! Thanks for the replies. I am new to this forum, and am not sure how to answer people individually. Also, why are there IGNORE buttons all over the place?
Lets see if I can remember the questions - Yes, I had the DS in March. I am using Dr. Balthasars vitamin regimen as listed on his website (minus the calcium).
I am taking the dry forms of the A/D/E etc. The Vitron C is my iron supplement. I take two daily, since my iron is low. Yes, I am taking 5000 i.u. (times two - total of 10k i.u.)
I have 2 PTH's listed - one says PTH Calcium and the other says PTH intact (whaaaa?) Both are in the normal range according to the papers... As soon As I figure out how to post labs, (this will be a goal for me this weekend), I will. Thanks to all of you for answering and thanks for bumping...I find this new forum confusing for me....
Peace and Love Sonia

Hi Sonia I started with 50,000 IU of dry D and have since increased it to 100,000 based on my labs I take two of the 400 Iu of dry E Vitalady suggests 300mg of elemntal iron. You need to take 3 more of vitron c per day to get that dose. I couldn't tolerate carbonyl iron myself though that is the kind vitalady recommends. I took proferrin and that didn't help me either so I have just had the second of 5 ferlecit infusions. I take 4 of the 25000 u of vit A I have had to increase my K1 from one 1000 mcg to two Vitalady recomends starting with 1800mg elemental calcium citrate (not carbonate) and it looks like I am going to need to increase this too as my last PTH was still elevated. I hope this helps. Someone else posted links to vitaladys ideas I have found her to be very useful I suggest you have a look. Good Luck. Joan
