Is the 30K plus quote with one of the vetted surgeons on DS Facts (Stewart) about the going rate for revisions? Is there anyone else in that ballpark?
I am very hesitant to go overseas from the US for a revision. I honestly haven't seen much of a savings with some of the quotes for revision overseas anyway.
And, yeah, I hate to be thinking about savings. But it is what it is. 50K is never happening.
Any thoughts?
Thanks.

For RNY to DS revision, 30K is extremely reasonable, esp to get someone with the stellar reputation of Dr. Stewart. There are very few surgeons anywhere doing RNY to DS revision, which is the most complex and challenging bariatric operation being done these days. I totally understand that cost is a consideration, but the biggest consideration is your life and your safety. The complication rate for this operation is high, even in the best of hands. I would add to your very reasonable hesitance to go overseas that you need to be very careful what surgeon you go to right here in the USA. I don't think you'll do better than with Dr. Stewart for both quality of care and price.
And just so you know, there is no one in Mexico doing RNY to DS revisions, at least no one I would trust. Now, for a virgin DS, or even lap band to DS revision, I think Mexico is ok with the right surgeon (Ungson or Aceves), but not RNY to DS.
