Recently speaking to Dr K in California the office asked for pictures for Dr K to look at to see if he might do my revision Laparoscopically. Has anyone been able to have the RNY to DS revision done this way? Since I'm traveling way across the country to do this, the healing time would be so much better this way, so I'm just curious. Please let me know.
Thanks - Terri

Welcome Terri. Ihadmy DS with Dr K and I got the distinct impression that he prefers to do it open. My virgin DS took 90 minutes in the theatre. That is hard to beat as far as I am concerned. Considering that you might have adhesion and surprises, I would suggest you give him the choice.

Hi, Dr. K did my revision and let me tell you I was so worried to the point obsesion about it being open. That and the feeding tube. Both no big deal. My RNY was lap and my nly surgery to date. My open incision never hurt. Actually at 3 months out is completley healed. Also it was numb for quite awhile.
Good luck Whit

My revision was done lap, but I went in with the knowledge that Dr. Simper would open me up in a heartbeat if I needed to. But I will say this, Dr. K is a DS revision rockstar and you can't go wrong with him at all. My advice is to trust in his judgment

Thanks everyone. I actually thought it would be open, I was surprised that lap was even mentioned. If he decides open is the best that is how it will be. I can't wait to meet Dr K, I've heard so many great things about him. I appreciate your quick responses, thanks again!
