Thursday night my husband and I finally drove the 4 long hours to Delano from NorCal.
We were all packed and ready to go when i received a text with a picture of my living room strewn with the contents of a Sees 1 pound box of candy...all the candy had been consumed by my dogs. Cookie a 40 pound cattle dog and Pete a 12 pound Chihuahua. Off to the Vet 2 shots to induce vomiting and $270 later we were on the road (3 hours behind schedule).
Delano is a small, sleepy, rural, farming community, full of hard working people. Great authentic Mexican food. My favorite.
Pre-op went well. They had to draw more blood, never pleasant as I am a hard stick...I have rollie pollie veins. The staff is very friendly.
Today off to Bakersfield for a movie. Monday 8:30 am check in surgery scheduled for 10:30.
Wish me luck. Whit

Best of Luck, Whit! You are in my thoughts and I wish you an uneventful procedure and speedy recovery. I see it's true that See's can be irresistable - sorry for the canine misadventure!

Thanks Hillary. Whats funny is the box was unopened and wrapped (for my house/dog sitter) way back on the counter. So not only did the dog get on the counter she unwrapped the packaging, opened the box not one set of teeth marks. Very smart dog...turns out Pete did not sample but poor little doggie. But I could not risk it. Even one piece could kill a 12 pounder. No question all that chocolate would have killed Cookie-who judging fro the contents of her stomach ate the whole box. Cheers,
Whit
