I have had quite a bit on my plate with recovering from Hurricane Sandy, my Mom, and just everyday life. I was also getting overwhelmed with changes at work. My weight loss was never that stellar (Post-revision) and I was stuck on the plateau from hell so I decided to put the scale away. It was making me crazy and I was struggling with iron deficiency anemia, acid reflux, lymphedema and generally feeling like crap.
After my last iron infusion in late September I noticed the scale finally started to move (slowly). Then it hit me the DS was working.
I was so optimistic when I had the RNY. I knew I was going to lose weight so I was gung ho about changing my lifestyle. I joined a gym and worked out every single day for at least 2 hours. I hired personal trainers and I gave it my all. I never once doubted that i would lose the excess weight.
I never brought that kind of enthusiasm to the revision to the DS. I guess some part of me did not believe that this would work for me. Hey I already failed at one weight loss surgery. It was very hard to buy into the second weight loss surgery as "the answer"
My primary care physician told me to focus on getting healthy and then the weight loss would come. I thought it was his nice way of saying I would be fat for life.
This week I took the scale out and although I had been stuck on the same number for months I decided to weigh myself. The scale is moving down. I am now able to eat without the horrible nausea and acid reflux. I am getting in my protein and fluids and I AM LOSING WEIGHT. Who knew the DS would work for me? I have only lost 75 lbs in the last 9 months but I finally feel like I am on my way. Compared to others that is not a lot but considering all I have been through I am thrilled. For the first time in a long time I feel like I will reach my goals.
To everyone struggling keep the faith the DS really does work!
