Well if you recall, Lenox Hill wasn't a choice. Fortunately, NYU is taking me on. While they are more known for lap-band, the head of the bariatric program does all the revisional procedures and seems to have extensive experience with the DS. So at least now I have a provider.
If you see me asking silly questions, please don't take it to mean I'm lost or clueless, that's just a nervous me randomly wondering things I have read about... :-)

Well the DS might be getting canceled on me. Insurance company issued a stop on the scheduled surgery date, despite them having approved it with Lenox Hill last spring. It says they will pay for the lap band removal if it is done as outpatient, but not DS in-patient because I was "successful" with the band per my BMI dropping to 31. They said on the peer to peer I would need to go back to a 35. Despite all the dictations notes from Lenox Hill and all warning them the weight will come on quickly. (I went from 180 to 220 just from them emptying the saline in the band...) So now him and I are meeting on Tuesday to see how bad my esopagus is. I may just to opt to remove the band as scheduled on the 22nd and then seek DS in the new year. This will kill the chance of insurance paying, whereas if i eat very carefully and tough it out another 90 days till january the odds will be better when appealing for DS if I still have lapband in me. Revisional due to medical device failure is an easier win than fresh bariatric surgery where they may want the 6 month diet and everything all over again. The problem is even if I appeal now, I am very busy November and December with law school applications for next year and I don't think having surgery is good when taking the entrance exam in December and all for a DS. So it's now either post-poine both procedures till januar, or just cut the band out and worry about how to battle insurance months from now. (Insurance Law I am very good with and am confident when i can put the time into an external appeal or state fair hearing we will win it), but I was trying to do it now so im recovered by December and all.
So depending on tests on Tuesday, I likely will just do band removal now... Odd since Dr. Roslin had them approved for everything. (Although i always found the forms they did a little shady, but thats another story..)

Sounds like your insurance company just might save your life. Get the band out and HEAL. Eat intelligently, move your ass around a lot and do what you KNOW to do.
Down the road, when your life is less crazy and you have grown up and learned a LOT of important stuff, and IF it is still needed, you can revisit the idea of the DS. We have told you from day one that you are a horrible DS candidate, and it's time for you to listen to the advice of experience.
