Hi everyone. I've been lurking on this board all week and decided to join the community... I have a consult with Dr. Sudan on Wednesday to discuss my revision options. Wish me luck! I had RNY GB in August 2007, and did very well with it -- had a baby in 2009 (still kept the weight off), but became severely depressed last year and gained pretty much all of my weight back I did a barium swallow a couple of months ago and it shows that my pouch hasn't stretched. So, the surgeon I initially consulted with in Greenville, NC refused to perform a revision. He says I just need to change my eating habits. Blah blah blah. I immediately started looking for another surgeon for a second opinion and found Dr. Sudan - that was two months ago. I'm anxious to hear what he has to say. I was hoping to revise from RNY to DS, but I've read a couple posts here that said he doesn't do that procedure. I'm miserable and ashamed that I've gained my weight back. I really hope he can help me!

Dr. Sudan definitely does lap band to DS revisions, but I don't recall ever hearing of him doing RNY to DS revisions. The good news is that he does have an excellent reputation. The bad news is that he may not be the right surgeon for what you want.
There are very few surgeons who do RNY to DS revisions. Be prepared to travel. The closest for you might be Dr. Roslin in NY or Dr. Stewart in TX.
Good luck and let us know how it goes. And who knows, maybe he's beginning to do these revisions, which would be great for us to know about.
