for those of you that have had a leak, did you have any symptoms besides the "normal" ones? (ie: hiccuping, fever, abdominal pain, tachycardia, intolerance to liquids)

How far out from surgery are you? If you suspect you have a leak you need to be seeing your surgeon….like right now.

allraindrops, please don't wait to find out if it's really a leak. It's better to be safe than sorry and call your surgeon.
Wishing you the very best and thinking of you as you figure this out. Sheri

Yup, I have an appointment with my surgeon on Monday--I got a little worried when I started getting a hiccup or two after eating when I heard from others that that can be a symptom of a leak but I don't have any other symptoms--I think it's just my body telling me I'm full--will definitely check with the surgeon on Monday and if I develop any of the other symptoms before then will go in immediately. Joanne B I'm 11 days out...getting the hang of the new size of this stomach! Funny, I revised from the band and thought that I wouldn't have much trouble adjusting to my new stomach size because of my band experience but it really has been an adjustment!!

If you had a leak you'd be very sick. If you're only symptom is hiccups I'd say it's from eating too quickly or too much right now.
But keep in mind anytime something doesnt feel right, especially in the first 30 days, you should call your surgeon. Better safe than sorry.

Leaks manifest as pain in the left shoulder if it's a small leak. If it's larger, then agonizing pain in the stomach. leaks are NOT fun; I battled one for 5 months and I still have a few issues.

Yesterday I drank too much water too fast to wash a pill down, had a few hiccups then sneezed !! Glad it ended there, without more hiccups. Calling your doctor is the best. Good luck!!
