I agree that we are all addicts in a sense. Immediately after surgery we become even more obsessive about food and exercise. These easliy become "addictions". Some of us spend hours a day exercising. We spend hours thinking about what we are going to eat. Did we think it was normal before we had our anatomy rearranged? Addiction can be anything that helps you "cope". The computer, eating, drinking, sex etc. When we have this surgery, more attention needs to be paid to the whats above our shoulders.

Have they done any studies on DS patients and alcoholism after surgery? I know that there are some but it just doesn't seem as prevalent as it is with gastric bypass.
Interesting that there is a physical aspect and that doctors are recognizing that.
Not all of us were addicted to food. That assumption is a pet peeve of mine.
