I am glad the holidays are over. So many goodies, I am glad they are gone. Leftover fudge, trashed! Same goes for chocolate covered pretzels, cookies, candy canes. I was a bad for Christmas eve, Christmas and my daughters Bday on the 27th.. But I am done.

Any specific plan, Stacee? Doing the pouch test or concentrating on protein? I am in the same boat but I have a big New Year's party threatening to derail my best efforts.

Hi Mandy, no real plan...I am re-upping my protein intake with shakes and food... and cutting out the junk. I don't have a pouch to test, but my DS is still in the honeymoon phase. Still losing just don't want carbs to become a bad habit. Christmas made me see glimpses of OLD me, the sugar hooker! Kinda scared me, still wait for weight gain to start...lol.. looks like you have done very well. This will be my 1st New Years, I have no desire to drink. We are hosting small gathering, I am doing alot of DS friendly foods. CHeeses, meats, whole wheat crackers...

Hey Stacee, I here ya on the candy!! Boy I can eat alot of those Lindt chocolate balls!! I am SO over them now though and giving all my candy to the 6ft 5 lacrosse playing teenage boy next door to us!!
I am planning on just focusing on the protein, salads and veggies. PLenty of cream, cheese and butter. Tonight we are having crock pot chicken with the salsa and philly cooking cream cheese santa fe flavor (i am having mine with some sauteed brussel sprouts) and the man is having buttered rice.
My fav thing to eat lately has been nuked pepperoni chips dipped in ranch and mayo mixed together. I nuke a plate full of the clices for about 1 min 40 secs on a plate on paper towel and cover the slices with a paper towel and remove as soon as they are cooked. SO Good!! I usually have some pork rinds too!

Sweets are not my problem around the holidays, my issue is Wine a few days in a row, thats a lot of calories. I have eliminated that for now though bc I am having abdominoplasty in 27 days and consider myself in training, high protein, vitamins, no wine (or any alcohol) no occasional cigs like I like to have with my wine, so I am hoping I can lose some weight before surgery. Good luck with your cleanisng as well!

Any specific plan, Stacee? Doing the pouch test or concentrating on protein? I am in the same boat but I have a big New Year's party threatening to derail my best efforts. The "pouch test" is completely inappropriate for DSers for many reasons, not the least of which is that we do not have pouches. Go enjoy your New Years party. Eat all your protein first and then enjoy the other stuff in moderation. But pig out on anything with protein in it. I bet you'll have no problems at all. THEN go back to low carbing it.

I'm with all of you and will decarb after New Year's as I still have two parties to go to and my son is here visiting before he leaves for Japan for at least a year, maybe more. He asked me to make fudge for him so I still have that to do and I know I'll have to try one piece of the 3 kinds we'll be making. I have been concentrating my focus on the protein, though, and haven't been too bad. But, not too bad is bad enough and I need to get back to the basics... after New Years. Happy New Year, all!

As soon as I get rid of the chocolate pecan pie in my fridge, I'm totally with you.
edited to add: and get through my daughter's birthday party on the 1st. I'm gonna need sugar to help gird my loins with a houseful of squeeling children.

Yorkie: glad to see you.
Stacee: I'm with you after this weekend. The holiday "goodies". Have krept in a little and they don't bother me at all. Not fair.

I'm with you, Stacee! I'm up four pounds and my jeans are a little tight. On January 2nd, it's gonna be protein, protein, protein and green veggies for me.

Cleared out the entire fridge of x-mas goodies. I'm restricting carbs not to exceed 40 , and going gluten free. What are the best food choices to drop a few pounds ? I have an event to attend at the end of Jan, people haven't seen me since surgery.

The candy is killing me!! I was doing really well before Christmas hit, and will get back to where I was!! I've been using www.e-mealz.com to help me with menu planning and it rocks. They have a low-carb menu, and supply you with a weekly grocery shopping list. I cook enough each night so that we have leftovers for lunch the next day. But there's no candy or pecan pie on the menu and that's been my downfall. LOL

Go Ruby! I made some flourless PB cookies yesterday and put some sf choc chips in them too for good measure - absolutely yummy! Just had a couple with a nice cup of hot tea and I had forgotten how filling they can be! I made a pot of chilli and a pot of chicken curry to munch on all weekend! I am happy to eat mine without rice and sometimes just have some green beans with it!! Come on guys, we can do it!!!! Xmas treats be gone with you !!!! Yorkie xx

I will alternate the candy with salads until I've eating the yummiest stuff, then I will de-carb. I'm just grouchy about that fudge trashing.

You TRASHED THE FUDGE?!? WHAT THE HELL!!!!! I'm with you! True story, not long ago Danny was making peanut butter pie. One part of the recipe calls for granulated sugar and another calls for powdered sugar. He got them mixed up and put the peanut butter in with the wrong kind of sugar. He threw it away and started over. Peanut butter and sugar. Thrown away. Not eaten joyfully with a spoon, just thrown away. To this day, every now and then I stand by the wastebasket and have a moment of silence.

My son is dating a girl whose mom is a pastry chef. She sent over an obscene amount of cake, pies, and cookies. They're restaurant / bakery quality so I hate to waste them, but we're only three people living here. I confess to dumping some of it in order to stop eating so much.
My husband wasn't happy about me doing it, until he realized that the quicker it leaves the house the less he'll have to endure my gas.

I've been a bit of a carb slut the past week, so I'm with you. Come 1/2/12, back to the all protein all the time. After my most recent surgery, I was really on the low carb bandwagon. Anything with white flour gives me the most heinous explosive shits of far more mass than the food I eat, so I wanted to minimize any stress on the surgery site (my bum - had a deadly fissure). Lo, the weight began to fly off, so I kept eating very low carb and lost another 20 pounds. Then we went to Australia, then I got sick, lazy, and pitiful. And then my neighbor brought over a huge tray of delicious and deadly home made Christmas cookies. After picking out all the really good ones, I pitched the rest yesterday. *sigh*
