I am in my tenth month, and have lost a total of 62kg. Today i discovered that I have small wrists. The silver bracelets are falling off. I can go on a 4km hike and feel great. I also wore shorts to friends and felt ok about it.

I have no idea of my actual size. Today I fell in love with a colourful top that was way too small for me. I bought it for next summer. It is fine silk and it would rip at the seams if I were to try it on. OR NOT I made my daughter try it on. Later she wore one of my jersys, and I realized it looks the same on me. I tried on the top and it FITS. I am quite flabbergasted. I will take a better pic tomorrow.

It is great to share my joy with you. Now I am off to buy cream. How can I do the day without my creamy protein coffee?! I am actually up to three or four cups a day as I am working hard at low carbing to deal with the gas and work the end of stall loss. I make the extra coffee with a quarter cup of cream and a spoonful of unflavoured protein. Nearly as good as chocolate.

You have and continue to be such an inspiration to me Leonie! I am having trouble 'seeing' my new body, too and was in utter shock when I easily fit in a size 6 jeans on my last shopping trip. I think the last time I wore a 6 I was 12 years old! Thank you for continuing to share your journey! You are such a beauty.

What an NSV! Yesterday I bought real jeans. They were from the plus size shelf, but their smallest one. It had a nice long waist. It is so great to tie a button and pull up a zip. There are real pockets and belt tabs. No more maternity style or elastic waistbands! Next time I might buy one without spandex. My face is also changing. I now weigh 81kg and the weight loss has slowed down to a crawl at thirteen months out. Even if the scale does not move, I still experience changes. This week I felt ribs on my chest for the first time. I also marvelled at how small my little finger is.

I have to celebrate. I have lost 70kg from my high weight, and I am below 170lbs. If I lose three more kilograms, I will have halved my weight. We had great fun at our annual gaming convention. For the first time I also dressed up. This was taken at the same convention in 2011

I must tell you, you were a beauty when you were fat. I know -- I guess -- you didn't feel like it, but I'm looking at the picture. You look terrific now, no question. I just...I want to give that fat self some props too.

LIFE IS GOOD Our finances have been really tight this year. Hubby had a bit of a breakdown and only worked six weeks since January. Fortunately we have big credit cards and some savings. I also got a job as an estate agent and that kept us going. This month we finally hit rock bottom when we were both once again unemployed. On the day we had to cancel our health insurance, he got an excellent offer and starts work on Monday. I was asked to come mind a friends Persian carpet shop, so I get to visit my Mom in beautiful Cape Town. My Mom keeps hauling out her too small clothes for me to try on. And she has all these terrible pre-op pics she shows her friends when re-introducing me to them. It is so thrilling having people not recognise me from six months ago. I love wearing scarves and cute hats. And did I mention high heels?

Glad to hear the good news, Leonie! Sounds like it has been quite nerve-wracking. I love being reintroduced - same person, different package. Wishing you all the best.

Wow...talk about timing with hubby's new job. Whohoo! Nice to get away for a minute and see your mom. And while annoying, I have to chuckle at her busting out the before pics. She is clearly as proud of you as we are. Moms will always be MOMS, right? You are so cute and always have an awesome smile on your face (even through gas and unemployment lol). A true inspiration to me since I joined these boards.

Mom and I All along she has been my greatest fan and support. She constantly battles the scale. I wish she could also have the DS, but she has been figting too hard and is definitely a lightweight at 210lbs. Do you think we could push for the DS? She loves my food, but perhaps a sleeve will be enough to help her lose fourty pounds and keep them off. She is 67, but will probably be gealthy at 85.

Congratuations on your success! You are an inspiration.
My dad wanted the DS but due to health problems, was only able to get a VSG. He's lost close to 150# and just had his 2 year surgiversary (sp?). He's done remarkably well - he was 66 I think when he had his. He's since had a quadruple bypass and a gall bladder removal. We're all convinced he would not have survived if he hadn't had the WLS.

I'm so pleased that when the crunch came you both got job offers. How scary it is to be living through this recession.
I wish nothing but success for both you and your husband. xx

I am back from Cape Town and it is great to be home with hubby. He is loving his new job and coping very well. He went back to the Psychiatrist saying that he feels inarticulate, stoopid and sleeps too much. I was thinking they might decrease his depression and bipolar meds. So she decided to increase the Lamictin instead. It seems to be working! I bit the bullet and went to see the kinesiologist at the local gym. My posture is bad, core non existant, tummy protruding, and the doc said my knee wont get better unless I build muscles. So now I am seeing her twice a week, and exercising at least five times a week. Its unbelievable how tiny movements to help me 'find' my muscles, have left me stiff today. She says that it would be much better to lose these last pounds through exercise. I cannot wait to be firm and fit. I went shopping yesterday for some summer clothes. I simply could not resist these crushed velvet pants. I discovered a shop selling Italian label clothes for $3. It was amazing finding things that fit in this 'young' and trendy store.

You look so great my little "hippie chick". I love the new outfit!
I hope you had a fabulous time at Cape Town. My hubby has family still living there. His grandmother was born there.
I know I have a lot of muscle to earn back. Keep hoping to get approval soon for the DS. My poor knees and hips need a weight reduction.
Glad to read that your hubby is feeling better. Hope he gets into his stride again soon.
