Has anyone here just had their stoma & poch resized and a portion of the old stomach removed? If so how did this work out for you?

Hi there, I'm a revision to a DS as of 5 months ago tomorrow. I can tell you that to my knowledge, stomas and pouches have been resized, and, more intestine bypassed (which is referred to as an ERNY, or 'distal'). There would be no point in removing any of the old stomach while keeping the pouch, as the unused stomach no longer contributes, factors to the weight loss/malabsorption. Assuming you are a RNY patient yourself, and unhappy, can you tell us more about yourself - age, procedure/when, weight stats - and your situation so we can better advise you? Because honestly, if you're considering a revision, especially one involving malabsorption, you really should consider the DS and understand all your options. There are only 6 vetted surgeons that perform this procedure in the US; it's a more sophisticated, complicated surgery, but well worth it in terms of correcting/fixing problems and better long-term weight loss and maintenance. You can also find more DS information on DSfacts.com. There are several of us here who have had RNY to DS revisions. I wish I could have had the DS in the first place 10 years ago. Revising an RNY to more RNY is not unlike putting out a fire with gasoline. But you should fully research both, ask a lot of questions so you can make the best decision for yourself. ***Came back to add that this post is worth checking out, it's on the keynote speakers board, titled "Revisions: Does the Patient fail the procedure or does procedure fail the Patient?" Offers questions to vetted surgeon Dr. Roslin, and there is a link and transcript to his video on this subject. weightlosssurgery.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=speaker&action=display&thread=3804

Thanks for replying to my post and so quickly,... I am aware of the RNY to DS and i think it is a wonderful surgery, but I was specifically trying to find anyone on here who has had an RNY to RNY or eRNY revision.
I had RNY in March of 2006 was over 300lbs lost over 160 lbs regained to 225lbs which is a lil more than 75lbs. I had a few complications and while the doc corrected them he also did the above. Soooo I was wondering if there was anyone out there who also had what I had.
Thanks!!

Definitely clarify this as you post and you'll get more accurate responses. This revision board isn't as active yet unfortunately, try posting on the main board and cross posting on the RNY board (put x-post so people know it's posted a 2nd time) Be specific that you've already had this done and you're looking for others who have. I had complications with my RNY (different from yours); my problem was I couldn't get/stay under 200 lbs no matter what I did. Best of luck to you!
