So my drs office said they sent in the referral to my insurance company to see the new dr. Just wondering how long I should give the insurance company to respond before calling them up and checking on it? Thanks!

When did they send the referral? I don't feel like it's a bad thing to check up and check up again. The fact is that as a DS patient you have to be your own advocate so I'd want to make sure they were on top of things. Of course, I can be a really annoying bitch at times, so what the heck do I know. Good luck! I'm sure some of the vets (AKA Diana) who have experience with insurance companies can help. I'd give a call just to find out when they "think" you should be hearing back.
Good luck!

I should mention, this is for the consultation to see the surgeon, not the actual surgery. I was in on thurs and they weren't sure if it would work this way or not but that they'd try it (this will be my second surgeon and they arent sure if blue cross will approve my specific dr or assign one). The way they were doing it was submitting the same referral but changing dr info. I called my office today and the lady said 'soandso is working on it' then said later that it was submitted. So I am thinking of calling anyways just to make sure they received it and possibly ask when I can expect to hear from them, like you suggested, just in case my dr is giving me the run around again lol i do pester them alot. In fact, I will give anthem a call right now and update later what the deal is. Thanks!
