I know some of you have written your own lab orders so that you get what you need. My question is this: Do you have to have a signature on the lab orders to have them run and/or covered by insurance? Or can I just take the typed up lab request in with the diagnosis code and have it run and faxed to your surgeon and PCP?
This would make my life so much easier, as I am in Ohio and my surgeon is in CA. My PCP is trying, but just isn't "getting it" yet....
Thanks in advance, Susan

My PCP is the type that I can come in saying I needed her to order X, Y, and Z...and she has no problems whatsoever with putting the order in. She doesnt have hands-on experience with a DSer, but she is totally on board with my upcoming surgery and has even been to DSfacts.com in learning about my needs. She and my surgeon are even in contact with eachother to find out what needs to be done on each end before and after surgery happens. Is your PCP one where you can do something like that, even if they dont quite "get it" yet?
Or maybe you could get your surgeon's office to fax over either to your PCP and/or whatever lab you use in Ohio the orders? Ive not personally tried going to my local lab and telling them what I wanted, but I havent ever been in a situation yet where I had to try something like that.
