I am heading to Delano today and have my surgery with Dr. Keshishian tomorrow morning. I am starting to worry about every little detail but I am excited to start the New Year with my new DS. My only concern today is having to drink the mag citrate and then making the drive to Delano. Still trying to figure out timing on that. Lol

Oh boy, I do not envy you being in the car after drinking that stuff. It took a long time to leave my system. Hopefully you'll have better luck! I hope everything goes smoothly for you tomorrow! I was worried about all kinds of stuff before my surgery, but to be honest, the day of... you have very little time to think about it all. Try and get some rest tonight, and be happy knowing that tomorrow you are changing your life for the better. Will you have someone to let us all know how it goes?

Congratulations on starting the new year off with the DS! I think we all fret and worry before surgery. I know I did--I have 2 little ones and a husband (who is sort of like a kid himself) plus a house full of pets that I was responsible for. Then I worried about whether I'd make it out of surgery alive! It's all part of the process. renegadeorange and I are just fresh out from our DS surgeries so we remember very very well. As far as the magnesium citrate is concerned, I'd take some precautions--bring a towel to sit on, and maybe buy some adult diapers--seriously. Or wear some maxi pads--spread them out over your underwear. AND, bring a quick change of clothes to wear incase you end up with a mess when you get to your destination. I feel for you, but once you have your surgery, this will be a memory long forgotten.
Good luck and welcome to the group! Please find someone to call one of us so that we can tell the board how you are doing. That person will be your DS Angel.

If there is any way you can drive there first and then take the drink, I would strongly recommend doing that. I couldn't leave the hotel room once I drank that stuff and it lasted a good 12-13 hours. I was on liquids for 2 days prior to that so I was amazed at how long this stuff stayed active.

Good luck!! I can't help with the mag citrate, as I didn't have to do it. But I had Dr. K, and he is the absolute best!! You're in very, very capable hands.

Good luck and congrats on your surgery tomorrow. Is there any way you could do your mag citrate once you get to Delano? I had to do mag citrate when I had my RNY and wouldnt have wanted to have to try to be in a car as the stuff worked through my system. I wish you extra special luck with this if you have to do it before you drive.

good luck, kinda off topic but I took Mag Cit once before the DS....i stayed constipated all the time, and it did NOTHING for me....so it makes me laugh or realize I am very weird that I am the only one that it didn't cause a blow out for!! LOL

I know I am a little too late to chime in but I had surgery in Delano with Dr. K. My family and I went up the day before and stayed in a hotel so I could do my bowel prep (mag citrate) and it was pretty easy considering the alternative of driving up to Delano from OC at 4 the next morning.
Sending you good vibes tomorrow and you are in very good hands with Dr. K! Don't let the hospital throw you, I had top level care from the nursing staff even though it is a small rural hospital.
Keep us posted on your recovery.
