Has anyone else had this? I see the surgeon tomorrow and will ask him then of course but my left arm is feeling sore and has a number of bruises on the upper inside of it. Just curious if others have experienced the same?

Sweetie,
It's ok. The bruising and soreness could be how they placed your arms on the operating table. They have to tilt the table if you were done laproscopically. Also, shoulder pain is usually residual nitrogen gas they use to pump in you to better see your insides.
Don't worry about it. Welcome to the Dark Side. Sip, Sip, Sip!!!
Hugs, Ratkity

Yup, I agree. It was probably your positioning during surgery. I had an issue with my foot afterwards.

I had all kinds of bruises on my arms (though, I do bruise easily) from constant blood pressure checks, my IV, the tape used to hold it in, my blood level checks every day, etc. etc.
I've seen a lot of people complain about the same type of pain you're describing. As others have said, it's likely the gas they use to expand you for lap surgery. But, ask your surgeon anyway. When in doubt, always check with the surgeon.

Yep positioning is everything to some of us. I have shoulder pain so I made sure to tell them what I wanted before they gassed me. I had them put pillows under my arms to slightly raise them and it worked out great......

I'd be interested in viewing a video of what really happens in the operating room. The surgeons have to manhandle up due to our size to best perform the surgery. And even with an open surgery, you may experience gas pains in the shoulders
