I've tried a thousand ideas to keep me exercising at home. Most fail quickly. Single mom, 3 boys at home, work full time, homework, housework, blah blah blah.
I have to join a gym. I will never do it otherwise. I hate big gyms, and lucky me there is one a mile from my house, small, 24 hours, $35 a month. The kind I used to go to as a young 20 something.
I'll put my 8 year old in bed, wait for him to be asleep and leave my 15 year old in charge for an hour.
Close enough to get home quickly if needed. Perfect.
No staff on weekends so need to get there during week to sign up.
It's on!

Cool on you~! DH & I have been kicking around the idea of joining. I've got pricing on the two best, now checking the rest.. I do not want to spend $$$ on a gym that I may or may not stick with. When I was single and 15 years younger, I went 4x a week.. now.. not sure about it, but I like the weights.

YAY! I'm one of those that needs to join something too. I have a gym in my building, but eh, it does nothing for me. So, I have a monthly Bikram membership that I pay $$$ for. But, Bikram is my saving grace. I do it mostly for my head as it helps with body issues. and it has the pleasant side effect of increased flexibility and strength. So, join that gym and make time for you!

Exercise started out as something I do for my body, but it ends up it is most helpful for my monkey mind. Lately, I started using valerian root to sleep soundly and my back has been going out, so I added pilates as a form of physical therapy, but I have to think about it like that, that its an APPOINTMENT and its not negotiable.
Go girlie!!

I know it will be super helpful for my mind so I'm looking forward to that! I need to work on strength, I feel it slipping and I love weights. It's a pretty small place, he's going to call this weekend if he's available for a tour on the weekend. Otherwise I'll be stopping by Monday.

I love to work out, but I am one that can't stand the gym. Most of my exercise is gotten outside doing gardening, walking and the like. In winter, I use videos and weights etc. I wish I would go to the gym, but it has always been a waste of money for me. I just don't go.
Good for you!

it's the opposite with me - if I have to go somewhere to exercise I will stop doing it, every time.
I do it at home and every time I stop, I start up again. small steps!!
whatever works for you!

So my username comes from a blending of things. I'm a mom of 3 boys, I've used the count to 3 method and it also reminds me of the whole kid game thing "on the count of 3". And in addition I'm an accountant, well analyst but same difference LOL.

I am like you about most exercise, Jackie. If I do not "love" it, then it needs to be done at home (lifting). Things I love (Zumba!!!) I do not have to talk myself into going, so the few minutes there and back are not things I use against me. I am struggling with the pilates, but if it were prescribed physical therapy, you can bet your ass my "self-care" bible thumping self would be chewing somebody else's ass to make the time BEFORE OR AFTER they find themselves impaired, make the choice!
And so, I make the choice - BEFORE! :}
I laugh about counting, my mama was a counter. When I am in stores and mamas start counting, I look at the kids with horror on my face and say DO NOT MAKE YOUR MAMA COUNT!!! YOU DO NOT WANT HER TO START COUNTING!! :}

I actually prefer the outdoors exercise as well. The kids and I now do things like rollerblading, laser tag (don't tell me that's not a workout!), etc. And we are going to lease a horse soon (OMG you may never hear from me again, I apologize horses are my drug in life)! However to get enough exercise (vs my weekends only) I have to do something else. At home, with 3 boys, it's insanity from 5:45am to 10:00pm in my house. It just never happens and when I try it's interruptions constantly.
Hence the gym, at least it's not expensive.
LOL Brandilynn!! I say it to my kids myself! "Do I need to count?" haha!

I need to get back to the gym myself. Love Zumba classes. I'm considering getting the videos and doing them at home because my girls love it too but we can't afford gym memberships for all of us! Yikes!
