I have been looking for a doctor to do a Revision in the Dallas/Ft.Worth area. I went in for a consult with Dr. John Alexander but he does not perform RNY to DS he only want to revise my RNY make the pouch smaller bypass more intestines.
Has anyone had RNY to DS surgery in my area and if so how was your experience and who did you use?
Steph

Stephanie, I responded to your post on OH as well. I have had RNY to DS revision with Dr. Stewart in Denton. Excellent surgeon. Have had a very good recovery and feel very blessed to have found him. Feel free to ask my any questions. Best wishes with whatever you decide. Brenda

Hi, I'm Sharyl, had my RNY revised to a DS in Dec 2011. You've probably already seen this, but just in case, here's the very short list of vetted surgeons who perform this revision, which the most complex of them all:
The RNY revision is considered the most complex of them all, but there are also issues to consider when revising from a lapband, possible damage, so you want to make sure you also see a vetted revision surgeon, and this is a short list here in the US:
Dr. Rabkin, northern California, Dr. Keshishian, southern California
Dr. Elariny, Virginia
Dr. Roslin, New York
Dr. Buchwald, Minnesota
Keep us posted on your progress!

Adding a plug for Dr Stewart. He's very competent and capable with years of experience.
A friendly warning: Do not go to Dr Barker in DFW. He's only been doing virgin DS' for about 18 months but seems to think he can do revisions. I know 2 rny to DS patients of his. Both have had vicious complications. He's ok for virgin DS but no where near ready to be doing revisions. He's a slick marketer though.

OMG, Barker is doing the DS now? When I went in he was a bait and don't switch dr (in my opinion). He gave me a long list of why I couldn't get the DS. Then I went for another opinion with Stewart and he debunked everything Barker had stated as facts. So VERY glad I got that second opinion or I would have the RNY right now.
I was a lapband to DS revision, btw...
