Hi all,
Does anyone have a direct email address for Dr. Keshishian? I have filled out the form on their website, and did speak to his staff, however I would like to contact him directly if possible.
Thanks! Lulu

Hi 2011mommy! Are you going to use Dr. K? I have had a consult with him and I really really liked him. I am a revision RNY to DS, if I go forward with it, and if insurance approves. Good Luck to you! Cathy

Cathy I've used him for my revision from RNY to DS. He is awesome. You will not regret the decision to use him. He is one of the top in the revision field.

Like SH, he did my revision too. I can't say enough wonderful things about him. You've made an excellent choice.

Thanks! Lulu Didn't you say Dr. K didn't take your insurance and that you were going to go to Dr. Crookes? Maybe I'm thinking of another pre-op. Either way, they are both supposed to be great.

Sher, that was Songbird 177. She is still going with Dr. Crookes.
Lulu, I was not a revision but if I was, I don't think I would trust anyone else but Dr. K. I didn't trust anyone else to do my virgin DS. The man is absolutely amazing. Not only is he brilliant (that word doesn't even do him justice), he is compassionate, funny and highly ethical. And those bowties...You won't be disappointed!

Thanks for all the positive feedback on Dr. K. I actually have a consult with Dr. Crookes on January 4th. Initially, I contacted Dr. K's office but when I found out about the 4K program fee and decided to go with Dr. Crookes since I didn't have the money. Well lately, my hubby has had a lot of work (he owns his own business) and it looks like there is a small possibility we can scrape together the money. It's not a "for sure" thing but I want to at least do a consult with Dr. K. I know people travel the country to have him as a surgeon and he is practically in my "backyard" (well, 2 hours away lol) so I owe it myself to at least try. Either way, both Dr. Crookes and Dr. K take my insurance so at least I have that going for me ;D.

The fee that DR. K charges includes al of the preop stuff, and visits afterwards, NUT consults (which probably won't be that informative) and lots of support. It just might be worth the money if you can scrape it together. Good luck!

Personally I would not trust any other surgeon besides Dr. K or Dr. Rabkin to do a revision from an RNY to DS. Their experience with this difficult procedure speaks for itself. The 4K does seem like a lot but it was well worth it to me. The support is top notch and even more important is the skill level. I wanted to give myself the best chances possible going into it. Dr. K breezed right through my revision in just a little over 2 hours and that includes the take down of a lot of adhesions and some issues with my pouch. I am not saying Dr. Crooks is not good as well. But when it comes to revisions I was only willing to settle for the most experience. Good Luck to you. SH

I'm not advocating for Dr. Crookes (because I KNOW DR. K is AMAZING) but I do want to point out that I don't believe that Keshishian is any more experienced with revisions or otherwise than Dr. Crookes. Dr. K gets more press around here--more exposure, but Dr. Crookes has been a pioneer in this field and I have no doubt that he could do just as good a job as Dr. Keshishian. The big difference here is that Dr. Keshishian encourages the DS and teaches his patients all about it where as Dr. Crookes makes you prove that you really know what you're getting yourself into before he'll do this surgery. I've heard that Dr. Crookes is also very cautious and will only do this surgery open for various reasons--having to do with measuring the intestine accurately, etc. So I think either way you go you'll do just fine. They both sound like excellent surgeons.
Best of luck! Sheri
