Hi everyone! I have been reading for quite a while. I have met with a nutritionist five out of the six times required by my insurance company. I go see her again at the end of this month and then my doctor will be submitting my stuff to my insurance for a revision from a RNY to a DS. I have a possible trip coming up in April which would require a 10 hour car ride and I would be away for four days - mostly in a hotel and would be able to relax but I have to go. If my insurance goes through without any problems I could possibly be scheduled a few weeks before my trip but I'm wondering if that would be too soon to handle it and if I should schedule surgery for after the trip. What do you all think?

What do you all think? Schedule your surgery for after the trip. It will be easier in every conceivable way.

Surgery after... no question about it. I tried to do a short vacation 4 weeks after surgery and I was beyond miserable . Car ride was horrible, hotel was uncomfortable, my emotions were thru the roof and I had a hard time with eating, drinking and protein.. get to know the new you first.. xoxoxo kb

What everyone else said. I was a virgin DS and no way in hell could I have taken a car trip that long at two weeks - and you'll be a revision. Also, you're at higher risk for a blood clot for about 30 days after surgery. Sitting in a car that long will not be good. If you must take the trip, I'd do the surgery afterwards.
