Lovy19--aka Marie is an official DSer! She had her surgery yesterday and is recovering in her room today. She said that she forgot to bring my phone number to the hospital which is why I didn't hear from her yesterday. But when I called her today, her phone was turned on and she seemed excited to talk to another DSer! Apparently she's been in quite a bit of pain and having some trouble managing it--she said, "I'm just a big baby." I laughed at that because I guess that means we're ALL big babies.
Today Marie had an upper GI and said it was awful. And she said the hospital is giving her broth and jello but that she's not hungry. Luckily she likes the jello but says the broth is like a huge meal--like a steak! She was wondering how to know when she's full and I explained that you won't have to wonder once you start eating. Her catheter came out today and I encouraged her to start taking some steps now--even if it's just a few to start--perhaps this will help with some of the pain. She's sipping away on Crystal Light and sleeping off all of those drugs. Right now she's still at the phase where she can hardly keep her eyes open. Marie is not alone--her roommate is there keeping her company and that makes me happy.
She's asked that I call her tonight (at 9:30 NY time) to check back in with her. Though she has her iPad with her, she just doesn't feel up to posting right now and has asked that I keep everyone updated for her.
Marie has the cutest little voice and NY accent--imagine Rosie Perez--and in that adorable little voice, she wanted me to let everyone here know that she's thankful for your thoughts and prayers and that she sends her love to you all!
So, make some room on the loser's bench!!!! ;D
More updates to come!!!
