My surgery date is approaching and it dawned on me I don't know if/when I have to start a liquid diet before my surgery. I assume I will but I don't know.
For all you who had Dr. K, what was your experience with this?

Hi Lisa, he tailors that based on your specific situation. Basically, he he said he doesn't want to go in there to a stomach full of heavy food. For me, his main concern was the day before, clears only. Two days before I had mostly protein shakes with some lighter foods. He also told me I didn't have to worry about not having anything red (his materials need to be updated a little in this regard) Call the office and ask the girls since you have time for them to ask him and get back to you about what he wants you to do.

It is my understanding that the current thought by some doctors is that consuming something red does not really matter. I know when I had my colonoscopy last year that they said the same thing. It's okay to eat red jello. I even asked them several times to make sure I heard them right!

Thanks, guys, for the feedback. I spoke with Diana from Dr. K's office about this today. I'm so glad I only have to do the liquid preop diet for a couple of days! It's just so darn hard with a normal sized stomach!
Oh, Sandy, I'm really looking forward to the mag oxide cocktail. I'll make sure to have some good magazines handy, lol.

Yeah, you'll be spending a lot of time on the throne the day before surgery. Tell Mom to do the sightseeing thing that day. The bathrooms are really small at the Pasadena Travelodge and it will just be easier to keep the bathroom door open. That reminds me, don't forget to hang the 'do not disturb' sign on the door knob so the maid doesn't surprise you.
